So assuming this as fact there should be no organizational review the release should have been that the coach is relieved of his duties and you deal with the financial fallout through your legal team.
I would be firm on this for a few reasons.
1. The players are the product and it is the responsibility of the member clubs to be behind them first and foremost.
2. Number 1 not withstanding the head coach of a major junior team is a leader of young men and you can't leave any doubt that type of behavior is ok.
3. Somewhat unrelated to the specific incident in question. I would be behind the assistant as an interim HC and then the second the Otters season ends a total revamp. New GM who then will hire his/her new HC and staff.

In a logical world there should be no internal review and I'd agree 100%, however the world we live in, and especially the good old USA, we are a sue happy country.

In the event of an obvious firing for almost anyone a full investigation is done where legal ramifications are talked about and the best course forward is chosen.

If all events check out, I agree it should be instantaneous, but unfortunately that's not how corporate America works.

The organization needs to do their due diligence anytime something like this happens.
Can you imagine rushing to judgement firing someone and then finding out it never even happened and being sued for ruining someone's name?
Hockey is no exception to basic Human Resource logic.

If he did something wrong he will be Terminated not Fired. HUGE difference.
terminated - no pay and you are done.
Fired -He gets paid the rest of his contract.
If he did in fact do what's being rumored the organization will want to make sure they have all their T's crossed to get out of paying him. and rightfully so.

Stan Butler has been around this league a long time, always been a fan of his, he's one of the premier coach in this league. He's also a coach of the yesteryear when you could get away with a lot more, not so anymore. When thing are not working for you, the team is not taking it seriously. As coach, you need to get the full attention, like kicking the garbage can in the room for instant.

What ever he did, it had to have been something of that nature, and it may be unfortunate for him, that is no longer acceptable in today's game. I am confident that whatever it was, it was intended to garner attention rather than to show disrespect towards anyone, as it was during earlier stages of his career. It could have been a slip of him, in the heat to get to his team, we need to wait for all the facts before jumping all over him. In my opinion.

Ultimately, whatever happened, I sure hope SB is gone. This feels like a blessing in disguise as mentioned above. He’s an overrated coach imo and I hated the hire from day 1. Sure, he’s better than what they previously had but that’s more an indictment on the last guys... SB in his prime was a good coach but nothing more, and that largely was just due to his structure and experience. But in 2024, his style in antiquated and was never going to raise the ceiling of this team.

I have had discussions with some old school high level coaches and it is completely true that coaching methodologies of the past haven't translated into today's culture.

For this reason alone some of them have removed themselves from the coaching world to prevent stuff from happening.

I really would hate for him to have his career ended by what is being speculated on, however it really shouldn't have been acceptable then and it's definitely not acceptable now.

Ok I know the competition isn’t the best but how much did the players not actually like SB? Just further proof he was and isn’t a good coach…
never felt more right about a take I had despite people trying to crap on my for it

I agree NOA and EOS.

It is almost like a weight has been lifted...

I spoke about a possible identity crisis that seemed like it eas coming to a front, perhaps it was SB and maybe thay monkey is off their backs. One can hope they start to play like they know how.

To add, I really like how Burns played last night. 0.969 SV%, 1.000 GAA, and was only 2:02 away from a shutout. He seems to be elevating his game. Could attribute that to the Zapolski hire, which seems to be paying off. Erliden was excellent against Ottawa a couple nights ago as well.

There’s no reason that this team shouldn’t have looked like they did the past two nights. We have way too much talent. Although it was “only Peterborough” it was a good boost for Burns and the scoring power.

SB was a good add initially to stop the bleeding. Initially I was for the hire and will admit that. Last year, fine get some systems in place, but come this year there’s no excuse to not be competing with a weak western conference aside from the top three. His lack of involvement became more obvious as this season went on. He never moved or talked with any of the players during game play.

Keeping Holomego out was finally the right move. I’m not entirely sure why he was kept other than a place value until Ambrosio got better. Henry taking multiple penalties might be something of caution, but at least they are finally finishing checks and putting bodies on people.
