So tonight's preseason game, I'm a little confused

Hamilton (H) v Erie (A) 7 PM at EIA. I checked both the app and the website and they both have us listed as the away team but playing here in Erie. Can anyone confirm the game is here in Erie?

It’s definitely in Erie but who knows why it’s them as the away team. They have 3 away 3 home games but only 2 at EIA. I’m just sure it’s some preaseason reason for it

My season ticket says it’s at EIA. It might be because Hamilton could be the away team tomorrow with us being the home team on Sunday?

Next week we go to Niagara but we aren’t playing at the Meridian Center Friday. It might be a neutral site kind of reasoning?

They play Saginaw Sunday as the home team.

Next Friday they are on the road for Niagara as they home team in Niagara-on-the-Lake at the Virgil Arena, not Niagara’s typical arena similar to round robin play.

I didn't get to go to the game last night but from the stat sheet:

Awesome to see Alfano, Spence, Edwards, and McDonald get their first goals and Sedore with 3 helpers.

Gibbons appeared to be off to a rocky start with 3 goals allowed in 4 shots but settled down and Nicholls seems to have played much better than last year. I hope they keep Nicholls and Gibbons in net Sunday and I will definitely be at that game.

I kept eye on Alfano and Spence yesterday. They were incredible to watch. Spence just saw the play and adjusted to the rush. Alfano found ways to get to the net. I know my small notes I took don’t mean much, but they were exciting to watch.

The game was good and as I noted previously it doesn’t mean much. Once we found a way to get pass Drobac (who I was surprised to see) they clicked. As a broken record, you can’t wait until the 3rd period to kick it into gear. Gibbons was able to get shoot out experience and Nicholls looked better than last year. I would expect those two to split time Sunday as Lalonde is a lock.

Artichuk and a Bulldog each took a 10 minute misconduct for a mouth guard violation which was soft, but better to take that penalty in preseason than when it actually matters.

Bressette left the game after a few shifts in the 1st which was odd. Could something have happened?

If you’re going to the game, make sure you eat before. I left for the concessions a minute before the 2nd was over and stood in line until 4 minutes into the 3rd. They only had one stand open and the beer stand, both by the Otters store. Very long lines with few food choices. It was a toss up what was available as they ran out of food which caused 10 min waits in addition to the time it took to get to the counter for a hotdog.

Team looked flat for the first two periods but that third period was electric. I hope BJ takes note of the comeback and what lines worked really well. Unfortunately Gibbons probably isn’t ready and will most likely be sent down and Nichols had a solid game. Still hoping we look at trading for a backup goalie. Power play looked better for the most part after a slow start but Penalty kill wasn’t very successful. It was great to have hockey back in Erie, all 436 of us last night.

Watching the goals from the highlights...

Alfano doing what we want on the PP, taking up space and putting it away.

Spence, right place, right time, laser to the top shelf and my hope is this kid is as advertised all season.

McDonald was probably my favorite of the night with his control in close, patience, and then burying it with the slimmest margin for error.

Alfano’s PK in the shootout was pretty good as well.

Spoke to Jay McKee before our game Friday. I wish we would’ve kept him. It was nothing more than small talk, but obviously we asked about their Memorial Cup run and how we can relate to the 40 days off. He didn’t make any excuses and as expected said there was nothing to hang their heads about. We mentioned we watched their run and how we were rooting for them. He spoke highly of their recent hire of their female coach. He was well spoken as expected, very pleasant, and actual took time to speak to a bunch of us season tickets holders who obviously had Otters gear on. I’d say that’s rare to see an opposing coach chat with a bunch of random people who aren’t media at an opposing barn.

That McDonald goal had some skill to it. Maybe he can be a decent bottom 6 find for this team. Nice to see a lot of different guys get involved on offense but it’s not going to matter if you top 3-6 aren’t consistently producing. You don’t need 3 guys over 85-90 points but you do need like 6 guys hovering around 60-70 points to create some balance. Combine that with defense/goaltending and you can be decent. I’m not predicting this will happen but more just speaking to their only route to being successful. And when I say successful I’m saying a 6/7 seed team that competes against a lot of teams. The west is always so deep and strong that I don’t see the avenue for that type of style and this type of team

No Bressette for another night. Only played first few shifts in the 1st Friday.

Anyone heard anything? There’s a season ticket holder event tonight and I’ll try to investigate if he’s there or not.

Great period with lots of action. It’s nice to see more than one or two people contributing.

I know it is only preseason but I am excited to see what the season has in store. Like what I am seeing so far.

I’m liking the looks of this Spence-Saganiuk-Alfano line. They’ve been fun to watch. The PK did a nice job on the kill which is different from Friday night.

I’d hate to be the one to make any cuts.

I also thought it was cool to see

Sova, Kyrou, Spence on the one line for a power play.

Anyways, this game is a little out of hand. Has to be legit 60 minutes worth of penalties for each team.

Misa has been fun to watch skate. He’s still getting his footing, but I really feel we got the best player with Spence. He’s a true all around player for his age.

Refs let this game go. Could it be because we played them for 12 times last season? Every whistle there seems to be a fight.

Gibbons had a good showing today. He seemed more comfortable in net with the start.

And the game is called because of poor ice conditions.

That kinda sucks TBH
