GWT: EPL - Matchweek 36

The issue with TAA is how he acted in the media and with the fans in the year prior and how he handled this whole departure. To just almost spit on the face of the fanbase and do exactly what Real Madrid asked him to do so they don't have to pay one dime for him.

Here are the key why I cannot respect him and I would never consider him an LFC legend. Saying his dream is to play for LFC all his career and emulate Gerrard, be the captain, be a one man club (yes he did claim all that). This mean more chat just a year ago when LFC were in the title race and him injured. All this while LFC have never been as dominant as they are right now in world football since the 1980s, something even Gerrard did not have the luxury to have.

Prior to that, refusing to sign for more than 4 seasons when he signed his last deal to give him more option. I know many people blamed FSG but it's Trent that requested the term and not FSG they wanted him to sign for 6 years.

Then with a year on his contract, never adressing the media and ignoring all the noise. Accepting every single conditions of Real Madrid so they don't have to pay anything for him. They specifically requested him to run down his contract otherwise they would not sign him. Then this whole weird message to the fan telling them he is leaving. The guy had it all and he is willing to give it all to become another toy to Real Madrid (and quite honestly, Real Madrid have no attachment to him, if he is playing bad he will be benched unlike at LFC and even if he wins more, he will be labeled a mercenary with no specific attachment to Real Madrid history).

Personally, I never truly rated him but I respected his achievement and his talent (he is very talented) but I was never a fan of his ego and his selfish attitude. I am somehow relieved he is leaving and I will be the first hate watching him next season at Real Madrid.

TAA also gave an interview a few months ago where he said Real Madrid was one of our biggest rivals. Which is frankly probably a fact. We keep playing them constantly, the circumstances dictate this is how things have become. Look how rabid Anfield was during the match in November. So from his own words he joined one of our biggest rivals. Now look at how Mane left. He very clearly said that he wanted to leave for a new challenge. Mane was very clearly a big legend here. There were no hurt feelings on our end. It's not like we haven't let players go nicely. When Firmino left everyone's feelings were hurt in a different way, we were all sad about it.

I don't think it's a crime to think that your club deserves a certain standard of behavior from their players.

Again, I would never boo one of our players on any team in any sport so this is just my perspective on why other people would. I think how they feel is fair. It's loser behavior to leave to this team. I don't really know why Slot would put him out there. I don't know if he wanted him to be booed now instead of during the Palace match, or if he just didn't realize what was going to happen. Or maybe Bradley was his priority and he wanted to play the player for exactly x amount of time and not any longer. Who knows. I am glad that this happened now instead of earlier in the season, at least when it happened now it doesn't really matter that much what happened in the game itself.
