Martinelli cuts lead to 2-1. Arsenal came out the gates very fast of second half. LFC not quite back into it yet

What “way” is that?
When the vice captain of the club, who was the outspoken figurehead of the “this means more” statement, was in actuality engineering a free transfer to a rival for over a year; he shouldn’t expect to be applauded.

There was absolutely a way that he could have left on good terms; but instead just did exactly what Madrid told him to. So yeah, screwing your supposedly dream club out of a transfer fee is not a way to endear yourself to the fanbase. And again this wouldn’t be as big a deal if there wasn’t a ton of tape of Trent saying how much he loved the club/city/wanting to be a Gerrard figure etc.

What lines up with the timeline is Trent probably thought the ship was going to sink after Klopp left and started planning his escape. And yeah there is a loyalty component; but even if we are saying that’s a bit overblown, we’ve seen plenty of examples of players signing figurehead extensions with a release clause to not screw over their previous club. Alexis did this recently as an Argentine playing for Brighton, so again I don’t think it’s a wild expectation that a local player on a league winning team who is in a leadership position could have done something similar.

Trent is entitled to want a new challenge but he shouldn’t expect people to be happy about it on the way out

Merino makes it 2-2. Trent (who is was on the pitch for about two minutes) keeps Merino onside than stands completely still to let Merino take a rebound. Looked like he did during the United game there.

I’d sub Trent off right now and not play him again.

Trent already making his presence felt lol

can't wait to see him next year in Madrid as a Barcelona fan, his defence is going to make madridistas miss Lucas hahhah

Yeah I mean there is it. If Trent can’t deal with the boos you can’t play him
