I definitely think it's time to give up this Partey at RB silliness. I tuned in after the goal so don't know what broke down defensively specifically, but it seems a clear example of something out of whack
On the goal - essentially White had already moved wide to RCB/RB in possession and Partey was running forward from a more typical CB position into the midfield. Then Saka tried to play a one-touch pass back to the CBs with no one there, which lead to a Fulham 2 on 1 where they scored.

Partey RB makes no sense, because even if you think he grows into that role, he was already a top 5 midfielder in the PL last year playing his normal position. Why mess with that?

Casemiro just jogging and letting his guy run past him.

That play is just one example of why Bruno is captain. Does shit like that 50 times a game.
Getting big Matic vibes from Casemiro to start the year... Hope it's not the case, but with DM's like them they do really fall off a cliff.

Casemiro started looking not great when he came back from that three game suspension for the stupid putting his hand in the guys face (against Palace I think?). Last season we played without possession a lot meaning he could sit back and wasn’t getting into foot races. These past 3 games we’ve gotten countered A TON leading to Casemiro getting caught out and not being able to keep up (half the time not even wanting to keep up).

Definitely some chemistry off too, which you hope will improve with time regardless of the formation.

Gotta hand it to Fulham, they've been defending very well.

THERE IT IS! ok offside

Dalot is bad. Isn’t even defending at this point just running along side the play. Just drop every single one of our fullbacks and play the young guys at this point.

He's been stranded a lot this year which, doesn't really help, especially as he's never been particularly fleet of foot. So I'm hoping it's more that than a real drop off in regards to age. But there's also a reason he was always partnered with Kroos or Modric. He doesn't have anyone to compliment him like that here which also is a problem.

You think Carrick can still play? :sarcasm:

Hypothetically Eriksen SHOULD be that guy.

Carrick has been by far the biggest loss this team has had in a long time. Was never replaced and was probably the most underrated pieces of those dominant teams under SAF. Prime Carrick would probably transform this side tbf.

Eriksen does fine at times. But it's clear he's just dropping off and can't consistently play at the necessary level.

Alvaro Fernandez isn't known for his defensive skills either. And there's no back-up on the right side. It's AWB or Dalot.

Brilliant. World beaters. For some strange system, they both are playing as wingbacks today lol.

That is crazy. Janelt has played FB in a back 4 at the youth levels and most wingers get some practice as wingbacks, so Schade's probably not completely unfamiliar with that role...but I would not have thought wingback was the best role for either of them lol.

Glad they're playing well. Janelt was a big time talent before his ego got in the way, and though Schade's still very inconsistent and has a lot to learn, the raw talent is there for big things.

I think we're trying to eliminate Palace's speed on the counter. It's working so far, and Schade dropping back is allowing Henry to push forward and cause a mismatch on the left.

I 100% wrote this wrong. Didn’t have coffee yet. My bad.

Arsenal bled goals at home.

They conceded in 15 of 19 home games last season.

Don’t know if you can put that goal on bad defense though. It was just a horrible gift by Saka. Defense looks fine.
