Epl Matchweek 29

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I thought Caicedo and Colwill were your best players today, but even they weren't "good". I expect a bit more creativity from such an expensive midfielder as Caicedo, he showed none, he was good defensively though.

Arsenal honestly should have won by more. Sanchez making a big fluke save on Merino's volley was pretty impressive, but shows how much of a fluke that was.

Spurs was funny AF. Ange subs off Tel for Odobert and the minute Wilson comes on, he loses the ball that turns out to be the GWG.:laugh::laugh:

This is generally what a Manchester United game against a relegation level team should look like.

Accordingly, I'm expecting them to blow it hard in the second half

Never good when the stretcher is called for an ankle injury and it's even worse when it's brought out fairly quickly like that.

Haven't seen an up close replay, but looks like maybe his ankle got rolled trying to make that block.

Garnacho looks a tiny bit offside, but that was the latest flag I've ever seen for a situation like that.

Typically flags that late are only because of discussion about if a player was actually active in play or not, not on routine type offside plays.

Annoying and totally arbitrary. There's absolutely no reason they can't recommend a yellow card.
There would just be a lot more stoppages if you can overturn a normal foul and review to see if it was a yellow. Plus there’s a ton of discretion as to what is or isn’t a yellow.

I’m referring about VAR for yellows only for instances where something was unnoticed but is being checked for a red, not for any use more widely. Obviously it wouldn’t make sense to add for across-the-board yellow review, but if something has been missed and is being checked as potentially red-worthy, it doesn’t make sense for the response to be all-or-nothing and yellow should be an option.

I'm not talking about stopping for a VAR check for every random decision, but if you're doing a check and there's a clear yellow (dives etc...) then give it.

Why should some yellows be punishable by VAR but not all yellows? That’s even more arbitrary.
I think it also comes from a misconception of what VAR does.

VAR looks at every single coming together on the pitch for a potential red card. Obviously 99% of them are glossed over with a fast real time view since they're obviously not red worthy, but then there's a clear continuum from "clean, but hard tackle" to "studs intentionally straight to the face" There's not a point where suddenly it's an official VAR check for a red.
