Had to leave mid-game so I watched the game on replay.

Midfield is still way too leaky. They need an actual defensive midfielder.

Vicario kept them in the game, but my man of the match is still Spence. Been our best player as of late, despite playing opposite his usual flank. Crazy what a good attitude can do to a player.

I would love to see Archie Gray given a run in midfield. I think he could be the answer to our issues there.

Spence is a DAWG. Surely gets into the England squad.

RB is a pretty deep position with TAA, Walker, James, White, Livramento, etc. Maybe Spence makes the squad once or twice but he'd be smarter to join Jamaica or Kenya and get consistent playtime
I think it heavily comes down to how Tuchel wants to play.

Spence will almost definitely get callups if Tuchel plays a 5atb because James and White would both slot in at RCB (not RWB), and Trent is an awkward fit at RWB. Main competition to me would be Livramento. Walker is out of the picture.

If he plays a 4? Then it gets trickier.

Walker is cooked.

James struggles with fitness.

White has had beef with England coaches. Hasn't been called up in ages. Also currently out with a major injury.

And if he keeps doing well on the left, England's other options are less good there.

My man said James ….
Has been able to rebuild some fitness and looks like he hasn’t skipped a beat everytime he’s played. If he’s fit enough to be called up, he will be.

He can’t sprint like he used to, so he won’t be used at RWB, but I’d expect Tuchel to prioritize him as the RCB in a 3 if that’s the system he goes with.

White was back on the bench in the weekend and the ”beef” was with Southgate. He’s the best they have but i think he will have to be very good to get his spot back at Arsenal now since the competition at fullback are wild. So that might be an issue for him.

Walker is probably cooked but he’s also been a fixture.

White had beef with the old coaches.

There’s also livramento, Lewis, etc. The point is that there is a ton of competition and a couple decent matches from Spencer don’t raise him to England NT lock.

Absolutely not saying he's guaranteed a spot or anything. But surely they are keeping an eye on him to see if he keeps it up. He's been much more than just "decent" as of late.

While the beef was with Southgate, I could see White staying away form the International game. He has always been one of those players that is talented at football but doesn't love the game. He may just opt to continue taking the time off.

Fair enough, decent was underselling it. To me, though, I think Spence is playing at a purple patch level rather than this being his standard and so long term, I don’t think he’ll be consistently in the England squad, so I think his best option is another country. Similar to Nketiah getting called up.

All of that being said, I’ll never begrudge a player for playing for whatever NT they choose for whatever reason. Money, prestige, playing time, emotional connection, etc. are all legitimate reasons.
