They were obviously never going to actually deny Citeh their birthright over the course of a full season...at least not without help from a pandemic...but I think it's really cool when a small club like Arsenal can push one of the big boys.

I do love the framing of "pep made a brilliant tactical change to win the game" when the actual tactical change was deciding to have a real left back instead of playing an attacking midfielder out of position at left back. Basically once Pep decided to stop trying to be so brilliant and play some weird system and just let his players actually play in positions they're good at, suddenly City was able to come into the game.

I agree and it's nt the 1st time with Pep

Will start with a formation that doesn't make sense, come back to his senses in the 2nd half and it will work because logic, but people call it a "genius move"

Brilliant tactics to take advantage of 2 gifted goals. Wish we had employed those tactics.

Arsenal have very good young players. They obviously lack a bit of composure in high pressure games. It is normal and very rare to see young team like that out perform juggernauts like Man City with their seasoned squad.

Don't think I am discrediting City as a team, I think it's more of a fluke in terms of how they haven't won the CL title yet. However, tonight, City was probably the better team in 35% of the action at most. The first ten or so minutes and the last 30-35 minutes at the end of the match.

I am so tee'd off not because City won the game, they have the talent to destroy any team in this league 10-0 on a good night. My biggest issue is that Arsenal gift-wrapped the goals like we've seen Arsenal in the past. For example, I am not saying Arsenal of three years ago would go up and ever beat Liverpool in Anfield. However, in a lot of those matches against the top six, they simply gave up to the point that the Reds were putting in goals 4 and 5. If this club wants to win the title, you simply CANNOT give up in these games and allow the team to run over you, especially on your home pitch. Arsenal was very much in the game down 1-2, but never rebounded. It's embarrassing and reminds me of those weak fragile teams of the past that capitulated.

Apparently, if City gets punished it won't be this season, so my post is now irrelevant. My point wasn't about KFC in that post you responded to. KFC doesn't need any defending, they won the CL while we never did, so they can "one-up" me at any point.
Yeah. Hard to argue that.

I’m curious as to what it was at half. His lineup and tactics simply didn’t work. What he was trying to do, didn’t work. Yeah city won but it was more Arsenal failed than a city win. I think if city do end up winning the league this will be the story. As pep and his men seem a bit confused.
They... from my point of view... don't know what to do with Erlig. I watched every City match this year and they were rolling for a bit before the WC, seemed to have a plan, but just a quickly became disjointed and, hard to sum up in a few words, but I'll say they are all over the place.
Also, that was the first time in a long while City actually was in that match to win it. Or at least try to win it, still looking a bit off.
As for Arsenal, the entire match may have been different have they not gave (KdB of all people) that free shot on goal. Many mistakes were made, but that one hurt.

Partey makes Arsenal's MF better
They missed him yesterday
I was actually pretty impressed with how well Jorginho played, he wasn't Partey-level good, but it wasn't like he was harmful to the team. Arsenal probably still loses with Partey yesterday though, too many individual mistakes that he would not have been able to prevent.

The game plan with Erling should be simple, just pass him the ball whenever he's in space. Problem is that goes against Pep's football philosophy.

There is a good tactic Arsenal could use : not giving the ball to your opponent
I'd be fine with that too.

I don't know that Xhaka is a good enough player to be the minutes leader (of non GKs) on a title winning side.

But what do I know.
Xhaka has been very good all year, but he's definitely the 1 of the midfield 3 to try to upgrade this summer.

on my way up to Birmingham & Aston. super excited for tomorrow, only my 2nd ever live game at VP.

Would not be surprised if there was an early goal as well -- think we've scored in the first 15 minutes quite often at VP this season
