Secondary assists Hutson with the lack of compete, size, speed, no shot, game won't translate in the show with a historical rookie season
There is a reason he went in the second roundSecondary assists Hutson with the lack of compete, size, speed, no shot, game won't translate in the show with a historical rookie season
WTF are you doing coming on here with facts? You should know your place and know that there's no place in this thread for that kind of shit....and you realize that Hutson has 48 assists and Casey has...ONE...
...pretty sure 5 points in 10 games isn't near as good as 52 points in 66 games...![]()
Your first 2 bullet points make no sense. Every team in the nhl would be happy to have Hutson in their top 4 and pp1. He isn't playing there just because theres no one better on the habs. He deserves that role with his play. He was also used on pp2 for the first 20 games.
It took 20 games because MSL didn't want to upset the vets. Hutson was the better PP player from day 1.There are a number of teams that already have a proven and effective PP1 Dman. I don't think it is crazy to to assume that it might have taken Hutson more than 20 games to lay claim to the PP1 spot. In Montreal, he had to displace Matheson, which still took 20 games. Although Matheson's PP numbers last season are pretty much identical to Hutson's this season.

You haven't really said anything incorrect, I just think the initial post was more directed at the Anti-Habs bias here on HF, rather than the award voters. Some guys have made it their full time jobs to hate on Hutson (Hudson) this year. That is going to happen on 95% of teams.
My entire point was that Montreal was a great fit and about as close as possible to the ideal opportunity for Hutson.
They offered a incredible balance between no star D limiting his opportunities and enough high end skill to capitalize on the amazing things Hutson is capable of doing.
Being in a good situation doesn't take away from what he is doing in the slightest. I was simply responding to a poster who implied playing in Montreal hurts Hutson's chances at the Calder. I also get the poster was most likely trying to imply a bias against Canadian markets or specifically Montreal.

It don't matter if there are teams that already have a good pp1 dman. Hutson is that star level pp qb. Saying he's getting pp1 time because there is no Makar or Hughes already on the team is dumb logic.
Makar and Hughes didn't have a superstar dman on their roster either to take away their pp1 time during their rookie season.
Is Celebrini lucky that San Jose doesn't have 4 better forwards to take away his pp1 time? Or that kind of logic don't make sense because Celebrini deserves to be a pp1 player regardless of the rest.
Celebrini came in and dominated immediately. He would be on pp1 with prime Joe Thornton. Is Celebrini lucky that San Jose doesn't have 4 better forwards to take away his pp1 time? Or that kind of logic don't make sense because Celebrini deserves to be a pp1 player regardless of the rest.

Hutson has 3 more points...and yes Celebrini wasn't going to pull the Sharks from the bottom of the standings, the team is awful.dominatehis 80 in pts and Sharks are dead last in the league
It would be, if we were comparing a forward with another forward.21 goals sounds so much more impressive than 4.
When you check those teams that those rookies of the past played for, and the years they played, the teams all averaged 3.75 goals per game or more. Every single one on the top 10 list. Even Makar and Hughes played for teams that scored 3.37 and 3.25 gf/gp, respectively.Assuming he plays all 82 games and continues to put up points, we're witnessing a generational rookie season for defensemen.
This kid is an absolute stud. Even reaching 60 points (7 points in next 15 games) would put him at 7th in all-time points by a rookie defenseman...something not done since Brian Leetch in 1989
Hutson has 3 more points...
... in 11 more games... as a 20 year old... just some more context... although likely doesn't matter when it comes to the Calder....as a defenseman...that context matters...![]()
