Epic Calder Race 2024-25

Hey genius, Hutson is one point back of Faber's rookie total, with 22 games left to play, and had far worst defensive partners and a much weaker defensive team as a whole.

Hutson will probably finish somewhere in the top 10 for all-time rookie dmen points, top 5 all-time for rookie D assists, top 5 all-time for rookie D ES pts, and will also probably in the top 10 of dmen in points for this season, but you disregard this as if it had zero significance. Your Faber example is pointless.

The fact Faber got snobbed for a worst defensive player should actually open your eyes to the irrelevancy of defensive numbers/perception for voters of this trophy, but instead you come out with the opposite conclusion. They look at offensive numbers. They'll see a dman with a similar PPG to the competing forwards, which is impressive, because top dmen are usually ~33% back in production to the top forwards. The voters will see tweets saying Hutson has reached milestones that haven't been touched in 30 years.

Tell me you have faulty logic without telling me.

Bedard had the hype behind him. Faber had Middleton for most of his season as his defensive partner and kept getting removed from the PP. More so Kaprizov was not 100% until late in the season. The team last year was not as good as this year due to injuries, Gus and ... A weak defensive team. Spurgeon and Brodin were never 100% either last season.

Faber is a 22 year old defenseman that just came from college and was in the top 10 for minutes played. He is one of the best defensive rookies in years in terms of two way play.

The fact that defensemen doesn't mean what it means anymore is a bigger issue.

Hutson is already the Habs 3rd best player.
He is the reason why the team is in the mix.
Super high IQ which leads me to believe he will get a lot better.

At this point Celebrini, Michkov and Wolf will have to go on a hot streak to have a chance.

C'mon now, I'm a fan but those were probably his two most vanilla secondary PP assists of his career.

Too flashy
Too vanilla

For a fan you sure do like to complain and nitpick about the player...

& the secondary assist on the Caufield goal was a beautiful display of skill, timing and Moxy. Few players, let alone rookies, can walk the line, hold the puck long enough for the d to commit and perfectly time the feed to set up the finish like that. Might want to go back and rewatch it.

Hutson is pulling ahead in this race and may well end up closing out one of the all time great seasons by a rookie Dman.

The beauty of his game is that he does so many little things well, with the composure of a grizzled vet, while also having that razzle dazzle to his game. Treat to watch.

When did I say he was too flashy? Lol some of you are way too sensitive.

He's a great player. A couple of nothing secondary assists doesn't change that. But that's also not a good example of him being "an animal" lol.

It was in reference to the quote on how well he has played since four nations..not just those two assists.
That's fair

Off sentiment from a poster who felt compelled to downplay, erroneously, a performance by a player lol

Too sensitive indeed!

This says a lot about your understanding of hockey... Explains a lot of your posts this year about Hutson lol.

Enjoy (or don't).

Seems like Hutson and Michkov really benefited from the break as their scoring has rebounded since. I wonder if that portends a fall-off in their production toward the end of the season?

Maybe celebrinis turn, haven’t looked into the stats but he really hasn’t slumped too much at all from what it feels like.
