Lane went to the worst team in the league who finished last and drafted Slafkovsky at number 1, Hutson second round at 62

D+3 is typical for defense rookies
In very, very rare cases a d+1 defender will play in the nhl (ekblad, dahlin) but most don’t play till d+2or 3
It’s definitely more common to see a 18 year old forward

Tldr Hutson isnt enjoying some sort of age advantage, he’s still very very young for his position

There may be tough games at first but he learns so fast. I think he is the type that will only get better and adapt to playoff hockey. He keeps proving everyone wrong including myself. Took me a while to fully buy into the hype but he's the real deal. Big time player and remember not even 50gp yet.

He will be a playoff terrorist one day mark my words

Given how much internet "ink" has been propagated by this group of Hab fans on their recent prospects/young guys, one would be surprised to find you that not only have they not made the playoffs in a while but they haven't won the SC yet.

But like I said it's a small subset and I think many Hab fans are embarrassed by their overt homerism.

All one has to do is to go to any potential Habs player being traded adn how much Hab fans value literally everyone exponetially...it just doesn't add up.

First it was that he would struggle in the nhl
...now he will struggle in the playoffs? Based on what? We haven't seen him in the playoffs yet. Next I bet it'll be something like "he will struggle in the SCF in game 7 on the pk"

Once the goalposts move enough , you know the guy is for real

Can we generalize this and pin it to the top of every page since this award is meaningless?

I don’t even want him to win it. Look at Steve Mason. Winning it and career went downhill from there

I’m a firm believer that there are exceptions to the rule and players as good as Hutson just figure it out. I hate to go there but I bet you’ve heard it before with Hughes. These players adapt and they don’t just figure it out. They thrive

Who said the above things, maybe a few people and I think going back in this thread and other threads is that people questioned his skating and transition to the NHL pretty much like every other smaller Dman without elite skating.

Sure he is elusive and has great edges and is sneaky but he doesn't have Makar or Quinn skating and those guys also had similar concerns.

It's ironic that the guy a couple of pages ago mentioning Hutson being the catalyst for the Habs improved PP didn't even bother to look at Laine when he came back and has been silent like many others.

Most of the pushback in this thread has been by Homers, both of Michkov and more lately Hutson and now we have a different pair at the top, let's see where the rest of the season leads to before getting over excited (this isn't directed towards you but we all know the people that have gone overboard here).

? I don't think anyone has discounted Laine's impact on the PP, they're just suggesting that Hutson also always should have been on PP1 as evidenced by him somehow managing to produce with a dogshit PP2
 
Wonder if those that said Hutson had no shot are finally giving him some credit with his 4 point rookie scoring lead as a dman.
