He was doubtful for game one, so just another game or two at most I'd imagine.

As for Stankoven, Dallas had the 3rd most goals scored in the league last season. They've brought back most of that offense and there's no reason to think this year they will regress. Stankoven had 30 total minutes of PP time last season. Tonight he had 2:14. If he averages over 2 minutes per game he'll 5x that this season.

He's the one rookie in the best position to excel due to the quality of the team he plays for. He's obviously not going to continue picking up 3 points a night but yeah, 60+ points is very attainable, which will be 10+ points more than everyone else, just like Bedard last season.

I think Michkov is going to light things up if he gets rope from Torts.

Almost 23 minutes of ice time yesterday. 2nd most on the team. I expect his TOI to reach 25 min by the middle of the season. Possession numbers are ridiculous.

Lane Hutson will win it in the end, if he doesn't get hurt

From every viewing, he doesn't look like he is willing to attack the middle of the ice.

Gets the puck at the blue line, skates around a little, the Montreal crowd goes nuts, skates into the corner, loses the puck, and repeat.

That was his entire game in the 4 viewings I've had at the NHL level.

He'll figure it out, but I don't think it'll be in time to win the Calder.

A few secondary assists don't change this opinion.

I see the potential though.

In the NHL's entire history, only twice has a rookie "lapped the field" in points.

1921-22 Season:

Billy Boucher - 22 points
Frank Boucher - 10 points

1922-23 Season:

Aurel Joliat - 23 points
Billy Burch - 9 points

It has been close before but only happened twice.

Selanne had 132 points as a rookie with Lindros having 76, except Joe Juneau was between them with 102. There just seems to always be the rule of two with rookies. A talent comes in, but there is always someone close to them skill wise for anyone to "lap the field".

Over the course of 82 games we're probably going to see a lot of clips of him getting worked over. It's a brutal league for young d-men and even worse for small ones.

I remember a Juneau interview where he was advocating for people to vote for him for Calder. Seemed like a bit of sour grapes. Selanne had 76 goals. It wasn't close. Selanne received all 50 first place votes.

I say Michkov however it's rarely the guy I think it is. Bedard didn't win it. McDavid never won it. Oilers have never had a rookie of the year and think of all the 1OV's that have gone through there.
