EOJHL Regular Season Underway

I heard it was Crozier and Eady that asked for trades, not sure if anything has happens as of yet

Crozier was dealt to South to complete the Pleschy deal. Eady would be tougher to move since he is OA, not saying they would not do it but they need some older guys there and they would probably get younger players in return for him, IMO.

Jared Steege from Arnprior is also putting up some points...I think he has 17 points with 8 games played.

Should be a big weeked for the EOJHL with the show case taking place. I am interested to see how many people show up and whether or not scouts do attend...they should be easy to pick out...I think they all wear the same black jacket

Showcase

I thought the crowd was pretty good for the Almonte game but not a great crowd for Arnprior...they usually have more but over all it seemed pretty good ..I know the 50/50 was above $ 1200 last time I check....amazing enough, the games ran on time all night...the only scouts I saw were from Nepean so good on them for attending and staying for the late games.

I watch the Arnprior game...Brockville had a real good start but then some weak goals and defensive breakdowns took its toll and Arnprior came away with a 7-1 win...Morrisburg seemed to have a short bench and lost to Renfrew 6-2...

EOJHL showcase

Heard about this forum tonight at the showcase. I have been a fan of the league for years now mostly follow Rideau- St Lawerence. I was in attendance tonight I thought in the first game Brockville was the better team for most of the first i think the 2nd goal late in the period which was weak hurt them. I have seen them a couple times now and have been impressed for most part but this young team collapsed in the second giving numerous odd man rushes. I was impressed with Arnprior #22 was very good. South Grenville- Almonte had no real flow too many penalties both teams are rather weak in my opinion.

Winchester- OWGK - Winchester looked really good early on but West was a deeper team and eventually wore them down. Another game that had too many penalties. The officiating has been terrible so far.

Here are my updated predictions:
Metro:
Gatineau
Ottawa South
Ottawa West
Clarence
Metcalfe

Valley:
Arnprior
Perth
Stit
Renfrew
Almonte
Shawville

Rideau
Athens
West
Gan
Tikis
SG

St.Lawrence:
Casselman
Char-lan
Winchester
Alexandria/ Morrisburg
Akwesasne

I only follow Rideau- St Lawerence i have seen every team a few times here are my predictions.

St Lawerence

Char-Lan - Skate well have great offence and solid goaltending
Casselman- They will find their way soon if they dont they will find players who will.
Morrisburg- young team that has some potential
Winchester- Good first two lines and a couple good D, goaltending questionable.
Alexandria- really thin upfront
Awkwesasne-Better but still ways to go

Rideau
Gananoque- Deep upfront, solid D core and good goaltending
Westport - Veteran team good on the pp , D very physical
Athens - Skate well have some talented forwards, Weak in goal.
Brockville- play solid defensively, good goalie, depth up front an issue
South Grenville- great goaltending, good top line but depth is weak

observations early on
- Char-Lan's the real deal
- Rideau seems to be stronger than the St Lawerence
- Gan going to be a real threat this season
- Good to see Brockville become competitive they seem to be on the right track and really like the new jerseys
- Casselman great place to watch a hockey game

I do agree pretty much with your predictions on the rideau, i am assuming you are predicting the regular season standings?

I think thats what this was for but my prediction is more for the play-offs. I find that especially in jr.b the regular season standings rarely follow through with the play-offs as it seems the older teams ramp it up in the play-offs and year after year the same teams pick up guys near the end of the year

Was their last night and the games I saw were pretty good.

Almonte is a pretty weak team and looks like a few players are fed up. I know for a fact a few people are on the block. Eady is apparently done. Abbis-Mills I'm unsure about, but didn't play in his last game.

Brockville looked pretty weak. Goaltending was awful and then in the third they tried turning it into a gongshow.

Arnprior looks really good. Might be the best team in the Valley.

I'm a homer for Ottawa West so I won't say anything. Winchester played well but took a lot of stupid penalties. Game was close until the second.

I'll be there tonight again.

And I did see Stallion scouts in the crowd.

I agree if Arnprior learns to be slightly more defensive or maybe add a good defender they will lead the valley.

Showcase

Watched the Arnprior/Casselmen game with Arnprior coming away with a 5-1 win. Game was fast paced with a very good crowd. Kyle Lamothe was outstanding for Arnprior and earned the game star. The new additions for the Packers played very well. Doleman (?) on defence was a great addition and Johnny Smith also added some secondary scoring...With Stittsville losing earlier it puts Arnprior on top of the Valley Division.

Also watch the Westport/Perth game....Westport looks strong and can move the puck...thye look to have a very strong D..

Arnprior- Casselmen was a great game Lamothe was outstanding great assist he had in the 2nd period. Suprised #22 isn't playing Junior A.

Westport has great D #6 is very good.

Renfrew

Renfrew continues to add to it's roster...it is rumoured that the Renfrew coach sent a tweet out last night welcoming Ryan Eady to his team....not sure what Almonte received in return...but by the sound of things it was just a PDF (cash) and no players.

Showcase

So after the first two days (14 games) of the Showcase here is the how the teams from one division are doing playing against teams from other divisions.

Valley: 5 wins, 3 loses
Metro: 4 wins, 2 loses
Rideau: 4 wins, 3 loses
St. Law: 1 win, 6 loses

8 more games today...but I am sure the organizers are claiming success for the weekend.... real good hockey and very good crowds....no doubt Jr B is the "jungle" but when the teams want to play hockey, the games are great

Showcase

Excellent hockey this weekend in Arnprior....Gatineau finds the going tougher outside of their division collecting a tie and an OT loss (Athens and Winchester) while Metcalfe improves their record with wins over Brockville and Casselman

Showcase

So with the inter division play, this is how things finished up

Valley: 8 wins/ 4 loses
Metro: 7 wins/ 2 loses/ 1 tie
Rideau : 5 wins/6 loses/ 1 tie
St. Law: 1 win/ 9 loses

I watched the Renfrew/Gananoque game. Gananoque works vey hard and are very quick...good team and one to be looking for going down the stretch.

At this point, at least based on the games this weekend, the St. Lawrence Division teams need to pick it up a bit.

The Metro Division is the strongest by far IMO.

Great weekend and the 50/50 was $2,400....if Arnprior is going to host this event next year, they need a better score clock on the "B" side arena. Coaches and players and refs need to be able to know when penalities are ending etc. without needing to ask the time keeper...other than that, and as I said before, the league must be happy as to how the weekend rolled out.

Rideau has 5 teams, St. Lawrence 6 teams
Valley: 8 wins/ 4 loses
Metro: 7 wins/ 2 loses/ 1 tie
Rideau : 5 wins/4 loses/ 1 tie
St. Law: 1 win/ 11 loses

Would have liked to see the 50/50 have daily draws instead of one for the weekend, probably would have sold more tickets.

From what i witnessed this weekend in arnprior is that lamothe was unbelievable against his former team casselman and plaschy is also very good considering how weak the defense are on almonte.. charlan has slipped after dominating almost everyone they have played this year and their top scorers like derouchie were non existant... ottawa has a very good team also, quick and moves the puck very well and beat up westport pretty good.. but i dont think a place like arnprior is suitable to hold in an event like this, rink B's score clock was useless and the ice on both pads was terrible, with the puck rolling and unable to stay flat, this whole fall classic should be brought back to kemptville which is also a more central location

The game Gatineau vs Athens shows 1-1 tie, can someone confirm the score. Don't they have a shoot out?

Kemptville would be ideal. For some it is the centre of the universe.

Rideau- St Lawerence has shootouts that Metro- Valley does not, Not too sure why that is.

Definitely won't be in Arnprior again but doubtful to see it in Kemptville as they don't have a Junior B team

Show Case in Arnprior

Don't count Arnprior out too soon for next year....It would not surprise to see a new clock on the B side, and I am sure they (the league) made more money at the Arnprior location than they would have if they were at a City of Ottawa arena due to the fact that ice rental costs are lower....but I agree, the ice was in bad shape by the end of the tournament and that needs to be addressed.

A number of rideau-Stl teams complained about the travel and schedule so i don't see it being in Arnprior again

With the recent signings of Scott Conroy & Drew Anderson to go along with picking up Ryan Eady in a trade last weekend, Renfrew has greatly improved their offence in the last week.
