GDT: ENEMIES OF JERKDOM IN RALEIGH

Has stankoven had a bad game really in the playoffs?
FAncy stats wise I think he had one last series that was pretty rough but I can't recall a game where I thought he was a net negative out there. Last night he was a little wrecking ball, and his ability to just take the puck away from the opposing team was hilarious at times. He's so good at so many little things, we have to sign him long term. He's the perfect Brindy kind of player.

And I don't think it's a coincidence we are able to settle into our own game like we do in this series with him unlike how we've been able to with Necas in the past. The puck doesn't die on his stick, and that's a big thing for us.

Broadcast wow how bad.

Canes 30 minute lethargy aside, I thought defensive spacing last night was master class.

Note of caution….chatty had the hypervolt being applied several times last night and only played 14 minutes. Hopefully just cramps because his speed continually shut down Caps advances.

Rest of d:
Wow at Walker leading team with 22+ minutes and burns at 19 playing the least except chatty.

OTH Caps are playing their top 4 big minutes.

Our forwards minutes were nicely allocated too.

Interesting that the Staal line, on home ice, where they should be most effective, had such a poor game.

I'd think they always get the toughest matchup at home. On the road, Washington is trying to get the 4th line out against them? They also lost Jarvis to a higher line? So they play pure shutdown at home. And more of a balanced line on the road? Especially with Roslovic back in the lineup turning the 4th line into a bit more of a scoring line.

That being said, how "bad" of a game did they have in the real world, when it was a 4-0 shutout? Kind of goes for all the players the entire playoffs. 1.32gaa with Anderson in net is absurd.

Watching the replay today, and it's eerie to me how much Alex Faust sounds like Forslund. I didn't think he has a regular gig right now; he would be such an improvement over Maniscalco, but alas, I don't see that happening.
I don’t know. He is very monotone and IMO boring. I’ll take Mikes faux pas with Tripp by his side over him.

Yeah, those bums had 0 goals scored against them, how terrible. Staal's line is the wet blankey line and have succeeded if they just skate 0:0 out there against the other team's 1st line. They allow Aho's line to have better match ups.

Chatfield’s only had 3 shifts in the third. He’s definitely nursing something.

If he has to miss a game, I put Nikishin in and just pair him with Orlov, move Orlov to the right where he likes to play anyway.
Good call. I noticed that Chat was also absent mostly on the ice. The ESPN feed I watched commented on one play that Chatfield didn't have the tenaciousness that he normally had when the commentator expected Chatfield to yoink a puck on the board away from a Capital that he normally does, but Chat held back and then engaged after the Capital got the puck.

Also, after the first or second goal, they showed the bench. Every player immediately stood up off the bench and cheered, except Chatfield remained seated.

I think it's pretty clear he's dealing with something. Only Rod knows the severity of it and whether Chatfield will be up for Game 4 or not. I agree with @Anton Dubinchuk that the substitution that makes most sense is Nikishin at LD and Orlov moving to RD. Orlov would love nothing more than to mentor the young Russian, I'm sure.

Neat Stat:

Burns’ hit on Ovechkin was the first hit of Burns’ career
Burns and Ovechkin have something going.
