Martinook skated in our zone late in the game while there was a break in the action for the “festivities” that resulted in the late Svech penalty. Didn’t reenter the game but at least he was up.

It's almost like the opposing PK lets up a bit when the first PP unit leaves the ice and we capitalize.

Love or hate Brind'Amour's usage of him, he's actually been effective for the majority of games this postseason, the majority of the time. Honestly, the reason why Nikishin hasn't seen TOI is because nobody has really played themselves out of a spot (one bad game here and there doesn't count).

From the speculation I've been hearing, it sounds like Burns wants to get the iron man record before he officially hangs his skates (we can all bitch about how the Canes use him, but he clearly can still play NHL hockey), but it's very possible that Burns pulls a Bourque if he wins the Cup. I think it would be really cool to see another Sakic-to-Bourque Cup pass again.

Interesting that the Staal line, on home ice, where they should be most effective, had such a poor game.

The Staal line sometimes have bad nights from an analytical perspective because they are being matched with the best players.

That’s another 2 seasons. He certainly doesn’t have another two seasons in him as a top 4 defenseman. I’d hope he realizes that.

Top-4 on a contender, no. But in a comfy, player-coach type of situation in San Jose to mentor Celebrini/Smith/Dickinson/et cetera, with a possibility to transition to a FO/coaching/scouting role down the line? Different story. That has always been my prediction on where Burns goes if he wins the Cup.

Great game to attend in person… well it was once Martinook hit Wilson and woke up the crowd and the team. Svech scored a beauty and we were off and running the rest of the game.

Took brand new fans who had never been to a game before. They loved it and I created some new hockey fans . They want to know when they can go again

We held serve and did what we needed to do. Let’s take care of business again on Monday and head back to Washington with pressure on them…
