The fourth goal was a deflection
And the 5th?
The fourth goal was a deflection
Should have been done last night during the 3rd periodWhen does da announcement come out that Shanny has been let go?
He's already gone - they're just waiting to make it officialNothing will cost Shanahan his job. They will spin this season as "successful growth"
You've got to get your shit together.
This team did ok. I don't think they underachieved this playoffs. This is who they are. Perhaps things might have been different if Stolarz was healthy and same goes for Matthews.
I’m not sure what TOR will look like next season, but they still have a lot of players under contact.
Bottom six is the least of this teams problems, it isn’t like those players aren’t available every offseason…….I disagree. Who's going to play bottom 6 C next season?
From your lips to Keith Pelley's ears...Shanahan. Marner. Tavares. Rielly. All gone.
The issue is not the shutout making the stats looking that much better Its his inconsistency, either spectacular or awful, even period to period... so the averaging looks ok, but its the timing and the situation.Well what if you don't ignore his shutout?
It’s the failing core. Marner should have been traded before his NMC clause kicked in two years ago but Shanahan called them all to ensure them they were all coming back after Dubas was fired. Why ? He should have had Treliving calling around to see what they could get in return for Marner and Nylander. Seven years of post season choke jobs was plenty enough at that point in time to know they couldn’t get it done when it counted most. The rest is window dressing. The last 3 years of him were 6th best, 9th best, and 2nd best... so better than the D assembled this year.
Do you purposely post things that you know nothing about?
Dubas failed, you don't need to keep bringing him up, but Treliving has also failed, and pretending the D he assembled was a success is weird.

Mitch’s greed and arrogance saved the Leafs from another overpayment………Oh wait, they’ll probably resign him to too much anyways……..Thankfully he refused to sign an extension. He prevented the Leafs from shooting themselves in the foot.
And the 5th?
Well both mathews and marner called out "too many passengers" so they really called out willy jankorok and holmbergBottom six is the least of this teams problems, it isn’t like those players aren’t available every offseason…….
Game 4 - 0 goalsOver the full 7 games, Joseph Woll had 3.56 GAA and .886 SV%
I mean, those are Allan Bester 1987 levels of goalie ineptitude.
You also said we wouldn't make the playoffs now that your boy Dubas is gone.We have the worst fans in all of sports.
I think the fans will get their wish of a clear out - we won't have to worry about play offs any time soon so you can all enjoy that.
Aren’t they all Swedes? Watch them go win the Worlds now……..Well both mathews and marner called out "too many passengers" so they really called out willy jankorok and holmberg
And OEL
boy thats a real classy move
Yup, just fix those two details and that will do it..The regular season is the regular season. But yes, they haven’t elevated their game enough in the playoffs to go deep. That said, they were playing the reigning champs and you have to recognize that they set the bar. You want a better performance in games 5 and 7 for sure, but the Panthers may very well repeat this year. Frankly, it looks like the Panthers just wore us down-their MO.
Disappointment aside, you have to recognize the step forward they did take. Florida has been playing this style for years now, the Leafs are one season in. Changes and improvement are needed, but blowing it up like some are suggesting seems like an overreaction. It’s still our best season since 2002. That goes much further back than the core 4 era.
What stood out for me, really most of the year, is that we need to improve our breakouts and sustain more pressure in the ozone.
Totally agree. Does Matthews want out too ? Because that sort of comment makes it hard to see him wearing the C next year on the Leafs. Both need to go along.
They are just rotten. I am not someone who picks on players post series comments right after they got eliminated but how the F can they call the team a whole bunch of passengers after their own performance in the Game 7.
I disagree. If this who they are, then that's pathetic. This is an old team with the ceiling of 2nd round exit? Matthews is never healthy either.
Easy:
- don't re-sign Marner, Tavares or Shanahan
- retool and stay afloat for the next few years until 34's contract expires and we get our 1sts back
- after that, San Jose this thing into orbit except for Knies
You're thinking about this the wrong way IMO. The window is closed barring a McDavid miracle. It's over, they failed, end of story. It's done.
Not saying that, just not as emotional as you guys cause the core 4 has failed. There's other reasons as to why this team hasn't gotten it done.. Core 4 is one them, lack of secondary scoring is another one.
FLA has 17 different goal scorers this playoffs.. Tkchuck was held of the scoresheet, but it doesn't matter when other people pick up his slack.
Hockey is a team sport, if your only expectation is have 4 guys score every single goal of the playoffs, this is what you get.
And to Berube’s correct assessment, it’s plainly psychological obstacles because we’ve seen those schizophrenic bouts with enough minor consistency to know that the ability is there.Team and goalie were synchronous in their awful play.
When Domi made it 3-1, Woll probably could have saved their whole organizational reputation just keeping them in it to fight 10 minutes for that 3-2 goal. Make it a scramble to finish, give the crowd one last hurrah. Nope. Complete nuclear winter level goaltending with a smile on his face. Just not a guy who can be trusted.
Game 4 - 0 goals
Game 5 - 1 goal
Game 6 - 2 goals
Game 7 - 1 goal
Our goalie could have had a .910 and we still lose. Woll was not the problem.
So? There were quite a few goalies that did the same. The issue is not the shutout making the stats looking that much better Its his inconsistency, either spectacular or awful, even period to period... so the averaging looks ok, but its the timing and the situation.
