Post-Game Talk: End of the Shanascam? | Leafs Blown Out at Home Again

no. he can go too.. (also Heya :) ) you know me. I am zero. attached. to anyone.
This team has managed to make me cheer more for Edmonton and other Canadian teams to get the job done than them.
So thanks to the Leafs for that.

For anyone thinking this is the last straw for this group and MLSE is going to clean house this summer, according to reporting they offered Mitch an 8-year extension this year and he didn't want to sign.

They absolutely will bring him back if he wants to come back, JT too if he's willing to come back at the right price. They'll probably let Shanahan walk as the sacrificial lamb, so it looks like they're making bold moves but MLSE will absolutely quadruple down on this core if they can.
Let's hope Mitch does us one final favour and GTFO.

One of the worst parts of this loss is that there's not even any avenue to explore to improve this team that includes Marner and JT moving on.

There's no other high end players even available on the market. f***. To think, we could've had Mikko f***ing Rantanen right now too...

I still can't believe we didn't try Marner and Matthews on different lines for an extended time at any point this year. Draisaitl and McDavid play amazing together and still get separated because they need to split up the top offensive players to get the best production.

The crazy thing is marner could have been the king of the city. But he's going out as the most hated. And you just know he's going to score every time he plays us and act all vindicated.

Matthews's passenger comment is really irking me. Because it sounds like there's serious disconnect in the room and he might be part of it. Even if mitch leaves, this disconnect might continue

LMAO! This franchise is a complete joke. We are as far away from a Cup as we've ever been. In what world are we just missing a few from the top? Practically the entire team got caved in. Have you not been watching for the last decade?
I could not sympathize with you to any greater extent. And I don't rule out anything.

I'm just looking at the current team and org and there are a lot of true hockey players here these days, including a lot of champs.

What are the limitations of having purse man and mickey mouse shirts run the team with letters from the top?

Have you ever seen something like that before?

I don't think Toronto has some kinda Wicca curse going on. Let's stay sane.

We just need to go back to hockey. And yeah, two players at the top running the show to the point that inexplicably can't even be separated on a line... ???

Superstars and leadership are important in a sport that resembles war.

That was before the playoffs began.

Shanahan is already out. It's been discussed prior. Also no way Leafs will bring back Mitch now.

Here is the bottom line.... Berube was brought in to coach, and to change the culture. He's been around a long time, and has had success. He will understand who has what it takes to win, and who doesn't. If there is an issue between Matthews and Berube, I think it's Matthews who is going to lose this one... and if Berube says that's a guy who needs to go, that's what's going to happen.

Berube has a terrible playoff record, the one good year he had was when he had the least amount of influence on the team (half season).

He isn't some amazing coach, I figured most people would have realized this by now.

Marner has 13 goals in 70 playoff games. Who cares what he does elsewhere? Weve had 3 coaches, 3 gms and pretty much changed the entire roster of players around him 3 times.

Him and Mitch were the bus drivers than
I agree. What do you do when those passengers are your captain, your 100 pt winger, your 45 goal scorer, and your highest paid defenceman. Berube said he doesn't know why/how this team played games 5 and 7 as they did. Your answer is right there, it's in your leadership. They don't have the fire to compete when pressured.
