It might be only some fans and media that are on the Dubas watch. The longer this goes on the more I’m convinced that they are letting the fan tempers calm down and then run it back.
Maybe they didn’t feel like they do about the situation now at the trade deadline.
For context sake, I have coached in college/university sports in Ontario. I’ve now gone back to youth sports, part of that reason was my partner wanted more time with me and as much as I loved coaching at that level, I wanted to keep her happy and I’d always choose her over coaching. We definitely had a few discussions during my final season. However my team was in a deep playoff run and it wasn’t until we got eliminated that she expressed all her concerns. She didn’t want to distract me from the task at hand. I’m more appreciative of her for allowing me to focus and not placing that feeling of guilt during the playoffs.
So I kind of understand where Dubas is coming from. I’ve gone back down to youth sports, had a lot of success this season and have spent way more time with the Mrs.
Relationship is an interesting dynamic...thanks for sharing your personal experience, and good to hear you're in a happier space with your wife...I'm sure Dubas is being pulled in two directions if that's the case...being GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs would be the pinnacle dream job for most...I guess he needs her full support and understanding to continue with it.
Again that’s just my personal experience. Dubas could totally be bullshitting us all! Also, like you said, it depends on the relationship. Some people wouldn’t mind hearing it earlier as it gives them time to handle it. Some people would rather wait to hear it.
I’m not sure I have a great handle on the Dubas situation. But I think it’s a bit of both. Maybe family has expressed concern, but I think there could be truth to Dubas using that statement as a way of controlling the narrative.
This is like Mitch holding out
This isn't family related - he probably feels he's being disrespected.
But I could be totally wrong. Something isn't right though
I feel they're giving Dubas at least a week to talk to the family and figure out what they want and maybe 2 weeks tops before they decide to hire somebody else. Can't wait too long because the draft is in a month and a new GM might want to go in an entire new direction with coaches and what to do/not do with the current roster and a bunch of other staff. The longer this goes on the more I’m convinced that they are letting the fan tempers calm down and then run it back.
I doubt it, if you read a bit further when he started as a player agent: "challenges with clients leaving for other agents resulted in Dubas looking for alternate careers in hockey."View attachment 709772
Might Kyle be switching occupations and going back to becoming a player agent & the reason he’s not looking at any other GM positions.
Chri johnston stuff was good.. chew through leather to win.. like sam f***ing bennett... winning teams have that..they just do as a focal point of their core roster.. we do not. It is objective at this point.. these stars have not had to fight for anything like making the playoffs battling for a spot.. they are good enough to coast srasons and get results .. with 95% being boring bland shit .. and for slme stretches sloppy shitty hockey
This is where analytics hit a wall.. leafs are boring. There are some pretty plays and the skill.. but these guys do not pjll the fans into their battles with passion.. they are hard to identify with.. marner laughing while getting punched.. if I was on the fence about trading him that right there would have decided it for me.. shit like that is just trash.. matthews laughing at konecny.. bunting being bunting with fake punches and tantrums that visibly were outright look! Look at me!!! It is so unlikeable
CJ mentioned it a few times, Kyle said this was brought up to him by his family a few days ago. So whatever feelings they had about Kyle working for the leafs or how they felt they were being affected wasn’t communicated until after the season ended. Which I can see being the truth. Why would his family tell him how his job is affecting them during the season?
It makes more sense to bring that up once the season is done.
He seems like the kind of person who doesn't like making those tough decisions which leads to him being taken advantage of/being a pushover. Gave every player whatever they wanted on their deals and you'd think they'd at least compete their asses off during the playoffs to do anything to win for him and not just rely on their skill but nope. Then the loyalty to guys like Kerfoot and Holl. Maybe it's best he just stays in the analytics department/behind the scenes more so it's not as stressful on him and his family and it still pays well.I doubt it, if you read a bit further when he started as a player agent: "challenges with clients leaving for other agents resulted in Dubas looking for alternate careers in hockey."
The source of that quote is not exactly what wikipedia has as a citation. Wikipedia cites the Hockey news and there what is supposedly quoted is slightly different: "disappointments" { Todd Reynolds}—clients defecting to other agents—and recruited by the Greyhounds, Dubas changed careers at 25 to become one of the youngest GMs in OHL history." it does indeed mention clints going to other agents, but it leaves out SSM recruiting him.He seems like the kind of person who doesn't like making those tough decisions which leads to him being taken advantage of/being a pushover. I just listened to the one with Dangle. It is pretty spot on and what I expected in regards to the core and the team. That CJ podcast is a huge indictment on this team and the program we're running here
The more I hear the more I think it's best if Dubas leaves and we deal a core piece. This culture is rotten
You are quitting the board?Nananana nananana hey hey goooooodbye
A huge distraction for whom?I was on the fence about keeping Dubas, I'd have leant keep but I wasn't concerned either way
I'm now on the he's got to go side, he's become a huge distraction and that's unacceptable for somebody in the front office and it's starting to feel like he's holding the organization hostage to his feelings and wishes
This organization needs a clean out and it should start with him, the coach and then the core
This is supposed to be a business, let's start treating it like that and stop coddling our staff and players who are more than happy to take the team to the woodshed when it suits them
From the medias. lolA huge distraction for whom?
Sounds right.From the medias. lol
For all we know, Dubas could be speaking with AM, Willie(maybe not him due to being in WC) and others about their new contracts.
For some reason, fans just want stuff to happen but they often takes time.
If I am the team, even if I have all the contracts(AM, Willie, Schenn, Acciari, Sammy, Kampf, Benn, Mete....) signed, sealed and delivered, I will make the announcement one or two at a time, just to keep the TO medias busy so they don't start writing their narratives as inside source or news.
