Honestly, I like how transparent JR is, it’s refreshing TBH.
At the very least, he’s excellent topic fodder.

He demanded a trade.Agree.I don't feel very confident going forward with them. There are to many red flags with this team as it is.Keeping EP40 over Miller was a big mistake. And now they are realizing it.
I would be happy for Horvat to return but as a 2C behind Petterson. They are not going to be able to acquire a 1C and Horvat is not a 1C. Also resign Suter for top 6 wing/3C. With Chytil, Blueger, Aman, Ratu, Sasson that is pretty good centre depth. If Petey comes close to returning to form, that is solid.I know I’ll be in the minority here but I’d trade EP40 for Horvat. I’d be happy to have Horvat back and he’d be perfect.
JR certainly does love stirring up drama, and then later blaming the media for covering the things he said.At the very least, he’s excellent topic fodder.
People have the weirdest definitions of transparency and honesty
Just like I had to do lectures on intellectual dishonesty so people could sift through the Benning bullshit shilled here, it looks like I will have to do some TED talks on those topics as well
JR… your honesty might be an ideal trait for running a mom-and-pop shop in places like Carolina or Pittsburgh.
Unfortunately, you are now running a business in a much larger market under intense media scrutiny.
Learn to communicate with more care and strategy or just retire if you’ll continue to have trouble keeping filter on your mouth.

It would be very Canuck if Rutherford costs the team a pick that they were planning on using for an offersheet or trade.especially considering Daly reminded every team of tampering rules and fines in frigan November of 2024
saying fines are increasing and you can lose draft picks
can you imagine if we lost a draft because of this idiot
""For teams, fines may reach $5 million, coupled with the loss of draft picks and potentially even the forfeiture of signed players.
Individuals could also face fines of up to $1 million, suspension for tampering with other teams players""

I wasn't certain, but after your post I realize I have no choiceNo you don't, the last thing people want is an 'academic' lecturing people.

Given J Hughes’ injury history, NJD may entertain a trade around J Hughes and Pettersson that includes multiple valuable adds on our side to the point that we aren’t improving our team, but they definitely wouldn’t move both for anything we could offer (outside of Q Hughes, which would be hilarious).Right now, the best case scenario is that Quinn stays. Nobody knows how likely that really is.
Then you look at the alternatives, none of which are good.
The Devils would be making a mistake by even entertaining a trade that isn't obscenely lopsided in their favor.
Pettersson
Lekkerimaki
Willander
Kudryatsev
1st 2025
1st 2026
1st 2027
for
Jack Hughes
Luke Hughes
That's what I'm looking for if I'm the Devils, and I'm not sure if that's even enough. The Canucks making that trade all but guarantees they retain Quinn, and right now they are at a 50/50 chance he walks for nothing. Their best bet is to hold onto their franchise (albeit often injured) centre and top 4/5 young defenceman, and bide their time until the Canucks get desperate.
If they want to go the Quinn to New Jersey route, the most I could see them offering is:
Mercer
Nemec
1st 2026
2nd 2027
Again, because why would they do us a favor? They know they hold the cards here. If Jack and Luke were on different teams, this wouldn't be as complicated, but because they do, it is. This has always been a risk since the day they drafted Luke and has only grown with time as the Canucks failed to do anything with the high level of talent they assembled. The Devils are a young team on the upswing, the Canucks are a middling boat with one paddle.
This is just the reality we are in. No point sugar coating it. The only other option is shopping Hughes to other teams around the league, but Rutherford will probably hold a press conference to announce that they have no confidence in being able to resign Hughes so they're looking for trade partners...because he doesn't know how to wheel and deal. It's all about leverage, and right now he has very little. Honesty and transparency (out in the open) are *not* good negotiating tactics, you are showing all of your cards and expecting others around the table to make poor decisions to suit your agenda.
And almost 3How can anyone watch these last two seasons play out and say yeah... That Rick Tocchet, it's all his fault Petey turned into a pumpkin for the last 16 months.
You guys are fans of the Canucks right? You've watched what real commitment to improvement is with Hughes right? Yet the defending of Petey is endless... If he had Hughes' drive to improve, we would be talking about having two top 5-10 players in the NHL.
imagine if our caveman ancestors all rejected their adults lecturing them about how to interpret the world around them?No you don't, the last thing people want is an 'academic' lecturing people.
I hear people say this but why hasn't McDavid and Draisaitl won 2-3 Cups by now or how come the Norris trophy winner Fox and Vezina Shesterkin hadn't already carried them into a lock playoff spot. For that matter how come Demko Hughes Pettersson didn't carry this team to more than 1 division title in the last 6yrs or 2 somewhat brief playoff runs?Well he did single handedly propel the rags into the playoffs. Saving Laviolettes job.
More likely than not, JR is just giving us a scenario where Quinn rejects the generous offer they are about to table for him. He was likely thinking of what the captain said before 4 nations. What I took away from the presser is that Quinn Hughes is gone in 2 years
Reminds me of another president out there. You know when you are talking with someone who is aging and they start to:
This is where Rutherford is at right now.
- Have no filter
- Repeat themselves
- Go on and on
And for the Nucks and their fans, that is not a good thing.
I think JR likely retires once Hughes leaves. JR and Alvin know they are screwed.More likely than not, JR is just giving us a scenario where Quinn rejects the generous offer they are about to table for him. He was likely thinking of what the captain said before 4 nations.
100%. Everything he said was in service of deflecting blame away from him.yeah i don't get it either. everything rutherford says is self serving. he's not honest and transparent he's a snake oil salesman painting a narrative
He's a rambling senile old man. Happens to everyone, but let's face reality. You know when you are talking with someone who is aging and they start to:
