Rumor: End of an era with Boeser and Canucks. Boeser: "Honestly its unlikely at this point (to re-sign)". Where does he go and for how much?

I feel like Boeser wants to go play in America and also think the Oilers would rather go big name shopping for a winger like Marner
Oilers have no cap to go after Marner. They have a ton of other things they need like dmen and a goalie.

If the leafs let Marner go, I really hope the nucks can land him.
Aside from EP, we don't have one guy elite at playmaking.
They have plenty of cap and a strong track record in UFA signings, being a great city to live if your rich.
Does he want to play out west is the question.
I guess there's always the chance a rebuilding team desperate to improve, offers him a ludicrous amount of money. Same with Brock, he will either re-sign for five years with the nucks or go to a shit team that offers 7×9+

30 goal scorer who is great defensively ( according to Nucks fans ) should cost a bundle no? I’m gonna guess Chicago to run with Bedard at around 9 .
Only 3 Canucks fans voted “great defensively” while 26 voters picked “okay”

In a previous thread this year talking about his value several Canuck fans were coming to his defence. I literally called him average , maybe a touch below average in that respect . Maybe it’s coincidently the only 3 that think so but I somehow doubt it

Likely one of the thickest Management teams ever assembled in the NHL says there is a chance they could come to their senses and resign Boeser.

There is likely no chance they can replace Boeser in free agency as players flee to teams with no state taxes.

This is the same group of Brainiacs that stated they offered Zadorov the same deal as the Bruins just after it was clear he was leaving for Boston.

They appear to be tragically incompetent and any term they give to Boeser, whether it is 5, 6, 7 or 8 years will be worn by the next management team and in a post-cap world, does it matter anyways.

This management team definitely doesn't seem to mind grinding players. Which tbh I don't necessarily mind..........the contract we signed Marcus Pettersson to was an absolute steal

Yup they successfully obscured their own incompetence by getting off the bad contracts they had literally just signed with Danton Heinen and Vincent Desharnais by flushing a first rounder that could be a lottery pick in the deep 2026 draft.

Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor were both pending UFAs so there is that as well.

Yeah we have different views here..........agree VD was a terrible target and Heinen meh but management seems to quickly move off of any mistakes like this. What about the Sherwood contract? or the Suter contract? Both gems............No management team is going to bat 100 when they are taking shots on guys like this. The nice thing about ours is they always move on very quickly from any mistakes.

I'm more than fine with the player acquisitions so far. You just sound like a disgruntled hater........probably an Oil fan if I had to guess.

How much would MP be getting this offseason if he was a FA? 7 + easy......what did he sign for? Hmmmm.........

Do you actually follow the Canucks.

Allvin and the Chipmunks have likely flushed more than an entire year of draft choices down the drain in covering mistakes or acquiring players that don't even play for them anymore.

Look it up, you will no doubt be surprised.

I mean, over a 3 year period, that’s not terrible. A late 1st and 3rd were traded for two players that helped take them to game 7 of round 2 last year. Those were justified trades, particularly Zadorov who had a huge impact during that run.

Dickinson was dumped with a 2nd, but management never signed him and he was a prior management’s mistake.

Trading the NYI 1st + 2nd for Hronek was fair value and addressed a dire need for the team (top 4RD and partner for Hughes).

Trading a 3rd for Dermott was bad, but they also recouped the 3rd by dealing Hamonic which was good.

Really, I can only think of dumping Mikheyev as the only huge indictment in terms of spending draft picks that was their fault.

This feels like Vancouver is going to be a shit show for a while.
Hopefully Quinn feels like he doesn't want to be part of it and the feasting can start.

Boesers inflated value is one I’ll never understand. He frequently gets talked about like his some sort of all star
Yup. It will be interesting to see what Boeser gets July 1. He’s kind of a slower winger who can score if the opportunity comes. But he’s not going to create that chance himself. He’s not physically aggressive. He doesn’t drive play through the neutral zone. Imo a club is going to talk themselves into things Boeser is not and pay way too much.

Yeah different player but similar situation to Skinner imo

Given his close ties to his family, I could see him coming to Minnesota and signing for a lot cheaper than people expect.

Losing your father really makes you start to prioritize other things in life. He’s already earned generational wealth & I could see him preferring to be closer to his mom.

This is such a self-serving narrative — there are plenty of successful teams with state taxes.

If Vancouver isn’t an attractive UFA destination this summer, I’m guessing it’s more because there is a lot of uncertainty about their core’s future, and good players don’t want to sign on for a rebuild.

Yup. I’m thinking young, exciting clubs on the rise with lots of cap room will be attractive to UFA’s. Montreal and Anaheim come to mind. Not sure Boeser would be a target of either of those clubs but they could certainly attract him, if they wanted to. Boeser is 210 pounds and plays really good along the wall. Maybe he would be a good fit with the Habs?
