Crosby had something like 31 points in 40 games until they hired Mike Sullivan and traded for 2 more defenders. He finished with 85 in 80 because it’s like adding Trevor Daley and Justin Schultz means you have a puck moving D on each pairing so you’re not just relying on Letang minutes to do everything.

The fact is EP40 has to play with elevated D zone starts while sheltering a bunch of 6/7 D’s. The best player in the world couldn’t make that work, yet EP40 can??? They desperately need another top 4 PMD and brannstrom needs to be back on the 3rd pair if you are going to keep him away from Hughes 5 on 5.

If this is true, we have to quickly move on from JT MIller, see if we can make the playoffs in 2025, if not, TANK IT GOOD, weaponize the cap room we free up from not having JT miller. MOVE ON.

Fire and ice. They don't have much in common and are quite different people aside from becoming prickly when aggravated. Beyond that we don't really know what's been the issue recently.
When Miller's off his game his defensive details go missing and tries too hard to score, meanwhile Pettersson does the opposite and plays too safe... They're just somewhat polar to one another in general and would probably argue over a Christmas game of Pop-Up Pirate.
Best case scenario the Canucks go on a roll and both guys play their best hockey but that hasn't all happened at the same time for nearly a year now, and both have down spells recently.

It might be utterly toxic, it might not be. People like a bit of drama, speculation and picking sides though and it's all good "content" for media and fans. Personally I assume they're both being dicks right now, and want to see them go head to head in the Four Nations only to conclude they're both very good and better off playing together.

Tough situation for the team.............these guys hopefully can get on the same page.
The talent is there, for certain, but neither are playing great at the moment. EP40 really seems prone to slumps more than Miller.

since none of us know the truth so i can only look at fact

the fact is Miller has been traded twice, has had rumours of not getting along with teammates in NY and Tampa, has yelled at Luke Schenn and Delia in a game, allegedly not getting along with Horvat.

Oh and EP had his best stretch when Miller randomly took a 1 month break

Copying over some thoughts from the PGT because they may fit better here, but what the Canucks PR department is doing (or more aptly, is NOT doing) right now is completely unfathomable to me. A thorough master class in how NOT to handle a situation like this.

How the **** do you send Petey out there without letting him know what to expect in terms of questions, without giving him a simple boilerplate answer to lower the temperature, without telling him that storming off like that is literally the worst way to respond to the situation? In most lines of work this would be a fireable offense at the publicity/PR level. If Petey went off-script, different story, but I doubt that was the case here.

It's not ****ing hard. Send Petey and JT out TOGETHER next post-game opportunity. Coach them up to handle a few questions, let them joke it off, smile for the cameras once or twice, and dial things down a bit. This isn't ****ing rocket science.

Amateur hour stuff from an organization that should know its market so much better than this.

Next media availability make Pettersson and Miller do the Mitchell Kesler walk out to talk to reporters to speak. Have them prepped with canned statements about both guys being competitors and wanting the team to win sometimes their desire to win can cause them to butt heads but they're both committed to the team and winning yadda yadda.

Then they can go back behind closed doors and resume hating each other. But it'll give the team a break from the drama for a minute or two.
