Speculation: Where do Hill Vejmelka Thompson Blackwood Lankinen end up and for how much?

Rutherford was quite candid about them considering spending cap on goalies so it's entirely possible.

Lanks has been brilliant but I'm not sure I agree with re-signing him. Feels like there are more immediate needs that need addressing before the 1b spot.
Easier hole to fill tho when he's already on your team. Especially with Demko injuries

I'm fine if Vej stays in Utah. Nice little squad to be honest. Would love him in Edmonton to play 41 games with Stu (may the best man win). Carolina would be amazing. Keep him the hell out of Detroit though .. they need a warm body for at least 2 more years and then one of their young guys should be ready.

Hey now, I want him in Detroit.

4-5 years, 3.5 per?

Lanky is sticking with the Canucks until the summer, but I think they will lowball him and he will walk. He's probably worth a few mil and the Canucks are gonna have to be savvy with the cap penalty increase from OEL, offsetting any extra cap-increase-cash they might have to spend on luxuries.

You got Cossa/Augustine in the pipe. Wouldn't he block them a bit?

Your price is about right.. I'm guessing he's some combo of 4's and 5's.. since the Rangers signing, I think goalie prices are about to go up.

I'd sign him as a solid backup to Cossa/Augustine. One of them will be traded.

I think you’re high on all your amounts (and term for most). $8.25M is non-Shesterkin Vezina dollars. Can’t see paying Blackwood or Hill $1.25M less than all they’ll other elite goalies.

Provided things go solidly in the playoffs, I bet Blackwood ends up in Colorado. 5x$5M is my guess. They get a good youngish starter, he gets to play for a really good team with two of the top 5-10 players in the league. All they’ll need is a bit more depth and they should be competing for a cup most years.

Same goes for Thompson staying in WSH, but again don’t see him getting that much. Cap is increasing and goalie ceiling has clearly increased, but still think it’s a position that isn’t valued. Assuming he gets like 3x$4M id rather take a shot on a guy like Vladar than pay that much for any but Blackwood and Thompson. Veijmelka I think stays in Utah.

I agree. I looked at the amounts in the OP and felt the exact same way.

I know you added the caveat of not knowing and just throwing out suggestions OP, but I’d consider any of those contracts to be fireable offenses for the GMs of those teams

so Mackenzie Blackwood is good now? I suppose he always had the potential. But there are some real mental things with him that make me doubtful he can be anything more than a backup for a good team, and I doubt he's someone you want starting in the playoffs. Just loses focus too much.

I'm struggling with the idea that Blackwood would purposefully choose to go back to a bottom feeder like Detroit after only a single playoff run on a contender, even with that kind of massive overpayment. I also think the Avs are pushing hard to try to get him extended before the season is over.
