I don't disagree that J.T. could potentially be a locker room problem but I don't understand this post, not sure what is even true here and how it even correlates.

Chased out of NYR? Source? Was Ryan McDonagh chased out too? Is he a locker room problem too?

Tampa was in cap hell, he was seen as more of a luxury than a core piece there. Lots of good players have that happen to them.

What's his history though? I haven't read anything about him being a locker room problem in NY or TB .I have read from Miller himself that he was immature as a young player in NY and didn't play the right way, but how does that mean he was a locker room problem?

Wasn't the reporting that he didn't really fit in in either dressing rooms? Not E Kane level, but like Jared McCann level which kind of fits in with the immaturity idea.

In any case, even on the Canucks there have at least been several cases of him being a bit of a character.

I just find it weird how some can be so one-sided and absolute in their belief that EP's the issue.

We just have to accept that a portion of the fan base cant stand EP.

The rest makes sense after you look at it through that lense.

Well, we're not privy to enough information either way so?

I do find it interesting that some posters don't take Pettersson at his word with regards to his nagging knee injury. Fine. Yet, some of these same posters morphed his vocalized desire to win into a specific retool strategy. Believed and then disbelieved.
Pettersson’s word is that he had to train around it in the summer but he’s fine and feels great now. Anyone claiming he’s still injured are the ones reading between the lines, chief of whom liked your comment ironically.

And again, I don’t know whether he is injured or not and don’t care because I don’t find his performance acceptable regardless.

This is obviously not true.

I even gave you the entire quote.

Why do you keep spreading this lie?

I think our media is shit and drumming a lot of this up. But I'm surprised nobody has mentioned one of the libellous bombshells that Rachel Doerrie dropped in that weird podcast that she had scrubbed from the internet (to the best of her ability) and that I have it on good authority the Canucks were not aware of when they hired her.

Within it, she said some shit about the Hughes family being toxic. And something about Petey not liking Miller because he was an antimasker or something covid related like that. I'm not buying something wholesale from Doerrie, but we have seen a picture of J.T. Miller wearing a 'thin blue line' hat which, at the time, was sort of going hand in hand with wingnuts who denied various aspects of Covid.

I'm not saying there's anything to it, but I'm surprised I haven't seen it referenced at all throughout this drama.

"I had a good summer. It was a little different — I had to train around my knee injury but I feel great," said Pettersson. "It's like a nagging injury, it doesn't want to go away easily, but we figured out a way to work around it."

"I don't feel any pain right now or after [practice]," he said. "It's not a big thing."

He may or may not still be injured, it’s inconclusive. He directly says he feels great and is not in pain.

I’m not going to debate you on whether he’s injured or not because I don’t know; however, choosing to ignore what he said and state he is definitely still injured is reading between the lines. This is not ambiguous, if you think otherwise you are incorrect.

Miller being antimasker, trumpist and putinist together with signing multiple russians the past few years would explain a lot.

Hire a coach not known for his mental and emphatic abilities. Not surprised the players hate each other.

Question?

If Miller has beef with Pettersson what would be the reasons why?

Same for Pettersson?

I'm wondering if it's about Pettersson drama of wanting to play for a winning team comment a couple of seasons a go, and the drama caused from Pettersson not signing a contract until he was pretty much forced to last season. Probably pissed Miller off and maybe a few others too because it became a distraction in the locker room. The speculation above of Pettersson being a introvert probably doesn't help aswell. Could Miller be pissy that he signed a team friendly contract while Pettersson signed for 3 million more than him. Not sure, but I know at my work when you know a useless employee makes more than you is irritating as hell.

Who knows, I'm just spitballing here. It's extremely frustrating though that this is happening. The Canucks finally have some core pieces to build around after 10 years of the Benning BS, and now our two top forwards don't like each other. I find this beyond irritating and now I could care less if both of them go. Completely unnecessary BS that will no doubt bring a team down.

Time to bring in Brady Tkachuk in a attempt to keep Mr Hughes happy.

you laugh but you have 19pages of bullshit crying about EP and him being overpaid. one of Miller or EP needs to go. You need better Dman outside of QH and S.Jones is a RHD and would easily be your #2. He is about 1.5 mil over paid but isnt old and EP is about 3mil overpaid and is injury prone.
Seth Jones doesn’t have close to Pettersen’s value.

hahaha this is hilarious. Hughes is toxic...or his family is, JT is a conspiracy theorist because he wears a hat that demonstrates support for law and order and may or may not have been an anti masker during covid. priceless.

sounds al lot like speculation to me.....

Or maybe we expect the 11.6M dollar player to be a effectve player on his own. Create scoring changes for the other 4 player on the ice on his own. Carry the team on his own.

Not a guy who relies on QH.

After all these years you still can't admit he isn't a game breaking player. You focus on small 10-15 game stretches he goes on a heater and put YOUR lenses on and ignore the next 30-40 games he goes invisible and when fans talk about it you call them racist or make up fake injuries. Maybe they want to see him play consistently.

EP40 is a 7-9M dollar top 6 C who cannot consistently be a difference maker.

Seth Jones for Elias Pettersson...zero retention on either side. Both need change of scenery and both are overpaid. Who says no who needs to offer more? Chicago adds over 2mil more with term
I think this is a good start for a trade, with bedard added to help balance out the cap hits

You really want to put your reputation behind Rachel Doerrie and bring this into the discussion?

Actually Petey does look like a game breaking, Datsyuk-like, player for a few SEASONS. Of course he isn't going to score exactly one point every game, but he was elite in his rookie season, the 22-23 season, first half of 23-24 season and the 19-20 playoff (and pretty good in the 19-20 season). He certainly has more than "small 10-15 game stretches he goes on a heater." He absolutely can be a difference maker, why he can't do it more consistently is a separate issue and a valid question, but this isn't a player that just goes on short hot streaks once in awhile.

But I do agree with you that an $11.6m player should be able to find a way to make an impact on the game regardless of his linemates, not being completely offensively inept without a Norris winner on the ice with him.

Its so frustrating that we finally has a good team that, while having a small window, does have a couple season to compete for the cup, and it all gets undone by the ego of 2 our of top player. Such a Vancouver-thing to have happen.

As NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told The Hockey News’ Ken Campbell in a Wednesday email: “The team wants to finish its season. We aren’t twisting arms here. Everything — including resumption date and various other critical aspects of their remaining schedule — was done entirely collaboratively and with Club input and consent.”

It’s business. But it doesn’t make it right.

“It’s kind of frustrating if I’m being 100 per cent honest with you,” Miller told reporters in a Zoom call. “We’ve tried to talk about the number one priority is players’ health and their families’ safety, and it’s almost impossible to achieve that with what they have asked us to do here on our return.

“I talk to my teammates a lot, and this hasn’t been, obviously, that easy. For them to try to come back and play… it’s going to be very challenging and not very safe, if you’re asking me. And I’m sure there are other people that would agree with that.”

I dont remember this.

I remember that she said that when (NJ Scouts?) asked around about Luke Hughes nobody of the coaches he had played for would go to bat for his character.
