Pettersson is the 5th highest paid player in the NHL. He's been a 50 point player since signing that deal. I think it is massively different. Also PLD has size, something that gives guys more chances than they deserve.
The comparison is horrible. Petey has proven his ceiling is far above PLD.

For all the talk about players declining, Leaf fans should be concerned more about Matthews, the guy skated like a geriatric old man today and his shot has left him, just like his hairline.

@34 he said it not me bro

While the Canucks could technically do it before July 1st, I think that ship has sailed. They hedged their bet on EP40 instead of Miller. What value are you going to get for EP40 during the offseason, if this continues?
It won't continue so who cares.

PPG players don't just lose their talent.

i don’t think Elias is declining, he’s always been a 65-70 point guy who just had 2 fluke seasons.

don't think they have much of a choice, really. you love to see it.

I was bringing up his inflated on-ice shooting % in his 100 point season when Canucks fans were calling him a top 10 NHL center.

They didn't want to hear it.

I think he can get back to being 80-90 point guy which will probably be alright for his salary. Just probably won't ever be a bargain.

Maybe it's possible he hits 100 points again in a season, but it's clearly not going to be his new normal season which his fans were kind of expecting.

Pay attention to shooting % data boys and girls.
