It's a post-COVID thing. I'm thoroughly convinced it f***ed with everyone's brain chemistry, and the social isolation didn't help. Add that to the fact that cost of living spiraled completely out of control, and it's no wonder things are going off the rails.

I think this also has a lot to due with the nefarious rise of sports betting and how it has woven itself into every possible fibre of pro sports. Unhappy people that feel powerless to change their own lives tend to find meaning in external experiences.

I could see both Demko and Hughes walking for fresh starts elsewhere when their contracts expire. The latter especially if the Devils are contenders - Quinn would push them over the top, move closer to his parents and get to play every game with his brothers.
