heck
Based solely on his last game, he's now on pace to score an even strength goal every game going forward. This *IS* sustainable!

Good for Pettersson to get off the Schneid. Happy he doesn't have to think about it.

The criticism was deserved though. Even Draisaitl is getting the gears right now for playing poorly. (I'll get back to him).

Hurt or not (and he may still be), the line gets drawn when the skates hit the ice. When you play, you perform. And if you can't perform, stay away like Demko has done.

Pettersson's contract antics and personality type lost him the majority of his good will with this city. When you have franchise level talents like Draisaitl reaffirm the timing template and not drag things into season, it hits the point home further: Franchise players will create drama when they go against the traditional expectations of the fans/media/management. It's just a fact. And that's the cloud hanging over things right now.

I'm not a fan of this latest report of Tocchet leaving it to the team to motivate him. I hope he breaks out quick because that is not a controlled and streamlined environment for Pettersson specifically.

I'm trying really hard to be optimistic, but he's making it difficult.

Miller will have like 3 games stretches where he breaks like 15 sticks in frustration from all his turnovers

Hughes is the most consistent but has games in a row where you go? Is that Covid division Hughes

When was the last time pettersson had a really good game????

Did I hear somewhere a while back that Petey is super into video games? Maybe he's on that shit too much

Lebron James is ranked top 100 in Madden. There are countless stars in the world of sports who are probably "addicted" to video games, but are still able to perform and dominate in their sport.

Pettersson is starting to feel like a typical mgmt question of WILL vs WANT. Super cliched but relevant.

He either has the WILL to be awesome but doesn't have the knowledge, training, skills or whatever is holding him back...but he desires to be better and will put the work in.

Or he has the skills, knowledge and training but just isn't willing to put the hard work in.

Getting to the point of 'no one knows and you can't predict one way or another to be honest. If he doesn't get his ass moving and start playing a little pissed off, the league is going to bury him.

Hope he finds the fire he needs deep inside him soon.

Very disappointed in this player and also in management who should have seen these patterns with him.

Zero desire to win or determination when he is on the ice. He is essentially a 11.6M Mikheyev right now. Miller, Boeser, Garland, Suter, Hoglander, Debrusk, Hughes, Hronek and Lanks are all playing better than him.

You simply must find a team willing to take a gamble on him right now. Our window is shut and sealed shut with him playing like this and having such a large cap hit. It stays shut until he becomes 5x the player he is or we find a taker for him.

I don't mind players going on cold stretches as long as they keep their feet moving and try. EP's play is just so demoralizing to watch. How can you be face down on the ice so often?

Elias Pettersson is the perfect example of why the NHL should NOT have guaranteed contracts. The entire organization is handcuffed by this guy right now and for the next 8 years.

Time to move on from this player or you might as well start a rebuild. Seriously.

257 shots on goal in 80 games just two years ago. Pacing for 123 over a full 82 this year. Is this man going full Huberdeau before our eyes? Scared to shoot? He was looking like a lock as one of the league's elite Cs

Concerning that everything changed once he signed the contract. Never thought he’d be the type of player to get paid and just ghost. This is a mind f*** lmao

EP was doing this before he signed though but it could be related with the pressure they put on him to sign. He's definitely pouting about something which I find especially pathetic considering the state of the world. People living on the streets, can't afford food and he's acting like a spoiled diva.

I also get the sense that he's pissy about Tocchet, the training staff and media still getting on him to bulk up.

His play during the 2021 period was awful but I cut him some slack because he was still young and the moral was shit after that miserable off-season by Jim Benning.

Now? It's very hard to be sympathetic. You have a potential playoff squad along with a new 11.6 million dollar contract. Ghosting now is a sign this isn't a player worth investing in.

I don't think Petey can handle the pressure of playing in Canada and might be suited playing for a smaller market team. Pettersson is constantly under the microscope here and at this point I think it's starting to get to him mentally. There is definitely a problem here, he has not been the same player since the All-star break. I am rooting for Pettersson to succeed and find himself in Vancouver, but I am finding myself questioning whether Allvin should trade him before his no trade sets in. Pettersson could very well be hurt, but it is very apparent that there is much more to this mystery surrounded around Elias Pettersson.
