Zacha isn't a better player just a slightly better fit for the first line right now. Poitras works well on the second.

But if you really want to nit pick he might be 4th best center on the team after Coyle lol.

Haha. Re-reading all the enthusiastically positive takes around here when EL’s and Zadorov’s deals were announced this summer was a fun diversion this morning.

They were the big prizes on the UFA market and Vancouver gave up a ton for each.

The Zadorov deal isn't as bad. He was the best option to add a big physical left-shot D-man and I think he'll hold up well, big thick durable player. Can handle the punishment over time.

The problem is the Bruins had far bigger needs for that cap space than a physical left-shot D-man.

The Lindholm deal was just a flat out mistake. He peaked 3 years ago and was clearly in a decline. Too much term, too much money, and didn't address any of their real needs (skating/shooting/puck distribution). Even still, for many the issue was the term, very few of us (if any) saw it going off the rails in Year 1.

25 games late but better late than never.

I actually think he could thrive in this role. It's where Vancouver played him and he was heroic for them in the playoffs. Yeah, he's making a lot of money for a '3rd liner' but if this is where he can be effective and contribute, so be it.
It doesn't really matter what line he's on as long as he plays a good 200-foot game and he scores more often. Go Elias! Prove the doubters wrong!

His offensive game is poo right now. Last night was a perfect example. He was fine defensively for the most part, won some faceoffs, worked hard, but at the end of the day, felt like a non-factor, or, at least, a non-factor in relation to his contract.

I was a big fan of the signing, and I really hope it works out eventually, but it's not trending well right now. The Bruins really need him to be the 55-60 point guy most of thought we were getting.
I was a fan of getting him, also. Unfortunately the team is poorly constructed and has been guilty of repeatedly and unexpectedly caving in games. Never saw this coming. I thought we were going to have a very good year after being energized by the acquisitions of Lindholm, Zadorov and Kastelic. We HAVE been better on the dot this year.

I get it that Lindholm is overpaid and not suited to be a 1C now. Will he be? I dont know.

But that deal more about the end of Bergeron and Krejci’s careers and the fact that we had no plan to address it. We got lucky with Krejci coming back for a year and both he and Bergie signing sweet deals. But the dearth of center prospects in our organization and a lack of #1 and #2 Centers on UFA (shocker that) left us where we are.

Not Lindholm’s fault he got paid.
