Has he spoken about the trade yet? Haven’t seen anything on social media.

That’s either BS or he didn’t want to play in Calgary anymore. Turning down 8x9M as a 29 year old while generally producing below ppg is utter insanity.

Agreed. It just doesn't make sense. There was absolutely zero chance he'd get a better offer anywhere else. It's either complete nonsense or he really wanted out of Calgary. I don't quite know if I believe the latter seeing Calgary kept negotiating with him.

If Lindholm genuinely does think he's a 8x9M player, he's going to be in for a very rude awakening come July 1st barring an otherworldly play off performance.

Actually don't know too much about his play style. Can someone give a scouting report? How is Lindholm's physical strength and speed? How is his forechecking ability? Also, how good defensively are we talking about?

If he's on the slighter/non-physical side, I'd be concerned with icing a Pettersson - Lindholm - Mikheyev second line. If he doesn't like to carry the puck, letting him be the main guy on a second line doesn't really work, does it?

Unless he has a massive rebound here, he isn't signing anywhere for more than $6 million. He can value himself all he wants but if he finishes with 52 points he isn't getting $8 million or whatever.

Weird player. He's a very good defensive C but offensively plays more like a winger. Doesn't really carry the puck but is a nice finisher with a lethal snapshot ... but that finishing hasn't really been there the past two years.

No idea what we're going to get here. I wouldn't be shocked if he clicked with Pettersson and scored 15 goals in the last 30 games and I also wouldn't be shocked if we overpaid for another guy in the Suter/Blueger tier.

I just don't see him extending with the Canucks.

If his performance doesn't improve, it's not worth signing him for the UFA market rate. On the other hand, if he bounces back, he'll be too expensive.

If he establishes strong chemistry with EP and agrees to a deal under 8 million, I'd trade Boeser, freeing up cap space for Lindholm. They share similar offensive skills and smarts, which makes me believe he'll be a good fit alongside EP and a seamless transition to a power-play role. However, Lindholm offers added speed, superior defense, and flexibility.

Regardless, due to his age, I wouldn't commit to a contract longer than 5 years, a term I don't believe he'd accept. Essentially, he'd be more of a short-term rental.

His wife posted on her IG account that they’re getting a furnished place in Van. Don’t know if they’re staying till the end of the year or are staying for multiple years.

There are different things the Canucks have to spring for under the CBA when it comes to accommodation and in season trades. I don’t know any specifics though.

Unless we try something like this:

Pettersson - Miller - Boeser
Hoglander - Lindholm - Lafferty
Joshua - Blueger - Garland
Mikheyev - Suter - Di Giuseppe/Aman
Beast defensively, great at face offs, good shot. Doesn't like carrying puck apparently I got all this from others on this thread and site.

Yeah, that's what I've heard as well, but I'm very curious about the pace/intensity/strength that he plays with. Wondering if he's on the softer side.

Honestly I could see him with Miller. Which means Boeser with Petey. Lots of options and time to find a fit. He'd also work well with Garland IMO, not that this is something we will see. I see this as a Cassels + acquisition in a contending year with a bit of YOLO surrounding the future beyond this season.

Please no. EP needs another good possession player to work with. Miller can carry Boeser in that regard as he’s more a run and gun energy player and not as dependent on organized possession play as EP is.

People typically rent a furnished place if they expect to stay 3-12 months somewhere so that's as normal of a thing as they could've done. No reason to go on Gaborik-like speculations just yet.

Yeah that’s a pretty mundane piece of news considering his contract status. Needs somewhere to live.

Seeing Lindholm at tonight's All-star festivities wearing a Canuck jersey when he was drafted for three-on-three all-star game, was kind of jarring, and a bit embarrassing in you're a Flames fan.

I'm curious about how Lindholm became Calgary's all-star rep in the first place. Was he voted in by the fans, or was he picked by the league?

You'd think that if there was good chance of him being dealt, that the Flames would have sent someone like Weegar or Sharangovich instead.

Didn’t know he had 42 goals last season. Pretty good for a #3 C. Just insane C depth for the Canucks. The Cup is within striking distance.
2 years ago, last year he had 22

I believe Friedman mentioned that the Flames wanted to send someone else but the NHL was strict on teams this year and gave them no choice unless it was a Panarin type situation with a newborn baby.

That was 2021-22. Though not far in the past obviously. He also had a mind-blowing +61, courtesy of playing with Tkachuk (+57) and Gaudreau (+64). What's insane about that stat is that no one was remotely close to them in +/-. Tanev was up next with +35.

What's even crazier is that after less than two seasons, the Flames no longer have any of these players despite them being at their primes right now. Of course the Lindholm trade brought multiple pieces, but in practice they've been replaced by... Kadri, Huberdeau and Kuzmenko.

I feel Lindholm might be one of the players who suffered a down year after having a kid.

Not sure if this has mentioned, but Lindholm has the same agent as the one Klingberg fired. Tens of millions of dollars lost between the two players.

Gotta be Miller with Boeser and EP with Lindholm.

Teams are gonna have a problem with matching those two lines. The Miller Boeser line is going to scare teams because they are always a threat to produce. But then are you going to sleep on Lindholm and EP.

Im interested in what happens with Hoglander now Kuz is gone, even though Kuz was in the doghouse, he was always going to get rotated into the top 6 before Hoglander.

it’s very likely that we face Edmonton or Vegas in the playoffs. I like our depth players vs Edmontons depth players, especially if we can stall the McDavid and Draisatil lines. Vegas is a little bit of a toss up to be honest. Having four lines that are threats to score is always a necessity in the playoffs
