Huh? First of all he’s one of the most durable players in the League. Built like a tank. Second of all, even if he still has an injury, after recovery he would have still got a huge contract in free agency, IF he wanted to test the market.

Elephant in the room is something every other team wants to have, but it just isn't there. If McDavid isn't signed 2weeks before he goes UFA, then we can come back to this.

It’s only my opinion, but McDavid doesn’t seem like a guy who would “chase the Cup”. He definitely wants it, but understands that winning with the Oilers has more impact on his legacy of greatness than going to another club and that is already a winner.
