I saw this happen to Buchnevich at some point a few years into his career. He seemed to finally realize he is big and strong enough to take on opponents head to head and not try to dance around them. Some guy just bounced off Buch and he was like, ‘interesting…’ and then he started manning up a lot more. Battling better. Using his body. Storming the net front.

I hope we’re seeing a light go on for miller too. Not even with regard to being a tough guy bully.
He is fast and strong enough to rush the puck more. He has an incredibly heavy shot with a quick release. He covers so much ground. We’ve seen flashes. Hopefully this playoffs he starts putting it all together.

It's simple math. The 2 pairs split the game evenly. Fox and Gus got more time because they play the PP with 4 forwards. When we PK, we still need to play all 4.

Exactly! The lineup that Laviolette was forced to put up was less likely to get injured in this situation. Devs were clearly instructed to fight and did we want someone else get a beating and chance an injury? The whole situation was squarely on Green while Laviolette had to accommodate for the sake of the rest of the team.

MacDermid made some dopey comments but I have felt kinda bad for him this whole time. Devils traded for him for 1 reason and it was to deal with Rempe. He has no history with his own team or ours. Makes the whole thing seem hollow on the Devils side. I don't think it did anything more than galvanize the Rangers.

And Brendan Smith's comments about "doing things the right way" regarding Rempe would mean more if he didnt spend his entire Ranger career half assing it until it got so bad he was made into a forward. Better to just keep quiet Smitty.

Kahkonen was bad yesterday and was somehow still the reason the devils didnt give up 7-8 goals. Last year was a complete fluke for them and the Rangers playoff loss was on us, not anything the Devils did. Some of us were saying this all summer so its nice to be vindicated.
