Confirmed with Link: EJ traded back to Colorado for Givani Smith

I don’t think Mikko will get booed, fans in Colorado are classy and maybe even too passive/forgiving.

If this was a city in Canada he’d hear it tho.

Only numbers I’d retire are 8, 29, and 92 from this group.

Mikko, sadly, probably won't have his number retired now.

Mack, EJ, Landy, and Makar for sure. Maybe Toews and Lehky (if he finishes his career here).

Watched that show with Meghan and Chloe on Guerilla Sports, and they had Rahcel Tos on with them (good insight into her career and how she got to the Avs), and they questioned whether the crowd would cheer or boo Mikko on Sunday. Probably both. Lots of Fans are pissed at how he's handled this whole thing, and ended up signing with a division rival over less than $300k per year difference than what Colorado reportedly offered.
Yes, I agree, if 96 had stayed no doubt he’d be seeing it in the rafters. Now, there might still be a chance but very highly unlikely now.

Only surefire ones at this point at 92, 29, and 8. 7 is a possibility but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Oh, Mikko is 100% getting the boo birds the rest of his career as a Dallas Star. To the fans he's likely in Matt Duchene territory now. They will obviously cheer him for the video that gets played but after that he's going to get booed heavily.
I agree 100%. Don't agree with it, but that's how I see things shaking out in this day and age.

If you really don't like the guy that much, it'd probably be better to ignore him than give him free rent in your head.

They honestly shouldn't IMHO. He's been a warrior and veteran for our club, but never put up amazing offence or even Slavin-level defence ever in his career.
I get it. He was not an elite player in any given aspect. But I don’t think there’s ever been a guy who was more proud to wear that logo. He was such a unifying presence in the organization during its darkest period, literally no one deserved that Cup in 2022 more than he did. That’s why I think they might.

I think it would be great if they did, but if they didn’t, I’m okay with that. Only thing I’m sure of is that there will be a job waiting for him when he finally decides to hang them up.

EJ bought the joy back to the locker room.

You can just see it in how they play and how they carry themselves. So much more energy. No sulking. Always a belief they can come back in games when behind.

EJ said he invited everyone to dinner after the trade and they had dinner and drinks and had a good time which he said is important to bring everyone together.

I've always thought they were lacking that positive leadership without EJ and Gabe. They kept things light along with Bo and even Mikko. This is a much different team now. They needed EJ, because if it was a new guy like that, it'd take time for him to feel comfortable being that guy.

But EJ is so comfortable being a goofball, after his game it seemed like him and Wood had some kind of inside joke they were laughing at and messing with each other over, and I'm not sure EJ had ever met Wood before.

Immediate impact on the culture and confidence of this team. They needed that, especially after losing another key piece to the dressing room culture in Mikko.

I will fight anyone who says EJ doesn't deserve his number retired.

I already had to murder several people who said Hejduk didn't deserve it.
The f***? People think the Duke didn’t deserve it? F**k that noise.

Oh and if any of y’all put out that moronic argument that “THeY nEed tO Be in tHE hALL oF FaAAaaAme” before their number is retired, you is stoopid.

I agree. It's about celebrating a team's legacy and the importance that player made on the team. Duke was a 14 year one-franchise playing, Stanley Cup winning, Rocket Richard Trophy winning, Olympic Gold and Bronze winning, Bud Light Plus/Minus Award winning, three time All-star. Exactly who said he didn't deserve to have his jersey retired??

Guy Carbonneau had 663 points in 1,318 regular season games and 93 points in 231 playoff games (3 x Selke, 3 x Stanley Cup Champion
Cam Neely had 694 points in 726 regular season games and 89 points in 93 playoff games (5 x All-Star, 1 Masterton- for escaping Vancouver)
Clark Gillies had 697 points in 958 regular season games and 94 points in 164 playoffs games. (2 x All-Star, 4 x Stanley Cup Champion

Milan Hejduk had 805 points in 1,020 regular season games and 76 points in 112 playoffs games. (1 x All-Rookie, 3 x All-Star, 1 x Bud Light Plus/Minus, 1 x Rocket Richard, 1 x Stanley Cup Champion, World Cup of Hockey Bronze, Ice Hockey World Championship Bronze, Olympic Bronze, Olympic Gold.

If he was Canadian or played in the east coast his whole career, there would have been calls for him in the HHOF as well. Not one of those other guys won an international tournament. The closest was Gillies losing to the Soviets in in the Labatt Canada Cup.

EJ is 6th all time in games played as an Av (not including Nordiques). Tied for the most seasons as an Av with Hejduk and Landeskog at 14. Won (at least one) Cup, made an All Star Game, more points as an Av than Foote.

His jersey is going right up there in the rafters where it belongs. This is the same ownership group that retired Fat Lever and Dikembe Mutombo for the Nuggets. EJ is easily as beloved as those two. Dikembe only played five seasons here.

If the Senators can retire Chris Neil's number, you bet your f***ing ass we can put #6 up there. And I will sell my teeth if I have to for tickets to that game.
