They have approx. 35 million tied up in Panarin, Zib, Trouba, and Kreider

And they'll soon be needing to extend Fox and Lafreniere... and Kaako

I think it would be incredibly difficult to fit Eichel's cap hit onto their payroll... especially with that ridiculous Goodrow contract on the books, plus another 3.4 million in dead cap space next season from buyouts

I can't wait for the 2nd coming of the 80's oilers given the incredible number of players on the Rangers that are untouchable for Eichel..... They're all apparently THAT good.

Rangers receive:
Jack Eichel

Sabres receive:
Ryan Strome
Vitali Kravtsov
Nils Lundkvist
2022 1st round pick
2023 3rd round pick

We must climb higher. Add Filip Chytil for $ 2.5M ret. AAV Jack Eichel is now $ 7.5M.
But this is not enough for us.

We continue our journey. We include the third team in the exchange.
Braden Schneider + Zachary Jones + Matthew Robertson for $ 3.5M ret. AAV Jack Eichel is now $ 4.0M.

This is victory. The operation went well. Jack Eichel played ten games well for the Rangers.
We are at the top. We need to look around. Yes it is.

This is the legendary pinnacle of stupidity!
Jack suffered a recurrent injury and is retiring.

We are the best! We are the best? We …….!

It’s too late for the Rangers to do an Eichel deal unless the Sabres take Kreider or Trouba back. Not trying to start any outrage but from a cap standpoint it is the only realistic way.

2023 3rd round pick

Let me fix it for you

Strome I would much rather flip at deadline to a contender
Kravtsov had more value before this season should have used him then
Lundkvist is meh at this point for the sabres

so instead I would do

Kakko
Barron
Schneider
Jones
1st

For

Eichel
Thompson
3rd

Sure dude, And where are the Rangers coming up with the cap space? Eichel $10,000,000 Zibanejad $8,500,000 Fox reportedly looking for $10,000,000 per and need to sign Kakko and others and Lafreniere the following year. Yeah good luck with that.

Buffalo's LD Pipeline is probably the only real source of organizational depth. Take out Jones. Buffalo isn't including Thompson, he's one of the few right shot forwards we have.

Kakko, Barron, Schneider, 1st, a conditional 2022 2nd (based on Eichel playing X games) is probably close-ish value wise? Still don't like the ideal of moving him in conference.

without retention, NYR can't fit Eichel,
and no reason for Buff to retain,

they will get offers which don't require retention

i also do not believe the return will actually reach the speculated ~4 1st's ++ (this proposal includes 4 1st's +)
i believe the realistic return will resemble:
a mid-20's top player (maybe younger than Strome), a blue-chip prospect, a 1st and a secondary sweetener

maybe Buff actually will get themselves an NBA-deal type return,
but my expectation is return wont reach those heights,
just my opinion as i've been watching NHL closely for decades,

also I believe NYR not keen to move Nils

yeah maybe that matches the online post-ers idea of value,
but surpasses any actual precedents, and NYR quite unlikely to move Schneider or even Kakko;

also as I noted above, now that Zib is extended, NYR cannot take Eichel without retention, and extremely unlikely Buffalo finds it must retain

More likely, NYR not a match for Eichel anymore

This Nils kid I hear may be as good as a young Erik Karlsson. NYR quite Frankly could be the fastest rebuild ever.
