Eichel: 2 goals in 20 games. Why is he immune to criticism?

There are levels to this, maybe if the Habs had talent like the Avs they wouldn't have failed Price against TB

Eichel needs to step up, shoot the puck and stop trying to make too many moves. This is the cup final best of 3 now, not an All Star game. But I do still believe that he's injured.

Eichel is a great player no doubt, but for a guy everyone claims is a top 5 center (and would possibly even go before McDavid in a redraft), he hasn’t nearly lived up to that thinking. Yet when he makes one defensive play the media will claim he’s unstoppable. I just haven’t seen anything this playoffs to support that he is anywhere near the level of even a player like Marner.

He has 2 goals in 20 playoff games and 2 assists through 4 Stanley cup final games. So why does no one criticize this guy? And before anyone claims “well both ends of the ice!!” Well there’s players that do that much better than him as well.

Eichel is a 1C center, but to claim he’s near the level of McDavid, MacKinnon, or even Barkov, which the media has been peddling hard, is just way off base.

Kindly explain

Would make sense because he just doesn't look comfortably even attempting to shoot

If that's true it's impressive he's still been playing as well he has
He doesn't shoot enough healthy. So he definitely won't injured. Vegas needs more shoot first guys on the PP.

It's very easy to defend when you know exactly what certain guys will do.

Their PP hasn't been good. Canes has. If that doesn't change, Canes will be celebrating with the cup on Sunday night.

Also, stop giving Cole Smith ice time or bench him. The guy consistently takes o-zone penalties.

Oh yeah he's never shot enough but the last few games it looked like he was literally incapable of it and passing up chances that he's converted in the past

Makes sense if he actually might be physically incapable or at the very least hindered, his mental also has to be shot a little bit because he's missed some easy tap-ins that would get the monkey off his back

He always defers. Injured or not. Him not shooting makes it easier for Carolina to defend. Get him off PP 1 and put a shooter on.

They already have enough pass first guys.
He’s an unselfish playmaker sure ; but he has a laser of a shot . I agree that he needs to do it more , but this wouid explain him looking a bit “ off “‘. Maybe this ends up being a reverse jinx and he gets a hatty tonight. Will Danhausen be in the house tonight ?

No sane person says Eichel could go before McDavid in a redraft.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more,. this is just crazy talk.

Everyone know that the truth of it all is that Eichel has always just been a product of Marner. Marner is the one who would obviously go before McDavid in a redraft. Playoff legend..

I checked his immunization records and he had the booster for accountability this year. He's good till next year.

What can you criticize? His teams in the finals. He's a point per game and he's shut down his opponents.

I value goals far more than assists, but I won't make a peep about Eichel's lack of goal scoring given everything else.

He counter jinxed the Knights after Carolina paid him off.

Lol

He doesn't shoot the puck. Overall, he has been a non factor.

Carolina has scored at least 4 goals in each game. Who is he shutting down?

Vegas is probably already cup champions with this series wrapped up if they had McDavid as the #1C.

Eichel's best season would be considered a bad season for McDavid.

They are not even close to being similar players.

What to people expect from Eichel?! Dude has 1 powerplay goal in the last 114 games that he's played. If Vegas loses, Eichel will be the one with the most blame, it's as simple as that...

I know when I call out playoff performances, I only look at a single stat of the guy leading the league in playoff assists and 2nd in overall points.

Shrug. He's a center and has notched a bucket full of assists. At 2-20-22, there's nothing to be sorry about, in Eichel's case.

No. 1 centers who rack up assists and are deep into the fourth round are doing their jobs. Second in playoff scoring. Well done, no?

This is the kind of horseshit that leads players to leave some markets for others. It's not money, or climate, or taxes or any of that. The correct answer is, "these players are 'effin great and we're lucky to have them." Some fan bases, and occasionally local media, are just the worst when it comes to their star players.
