I don't think Nik would sign long-term there to play one year with his buddy. If he does move on his buddy in Montreal will no doubt be whispering sweet nothings in his ear. You think the Canadiens would be interested, I do.
True. With and without Laine, Montreal makes a lot of sense as wellIf he does move on his buddy in Montreal will no doubt be whispering sweet nothings in his ear. You think the Canadiens would be interested, I do.
8 years ago-ish Ehlers signed for $6.00Mx8 a year after Scheif signed $6.25Mx8...It's not Ehlers fault that Chef is under-paid. Chef should blame his agent or his goats.
Because he wants to scrap to make the playoffs every year?True. With and without Laine, Montreal makes a lot of sense as well
He signed a 7-year contract.8 years ago-ish Ehlers signed for $6.00Mx8 a year after Scheif signed $6.25Mx8...
Well, for Nik he has to make a decision. If he really wants that marquee position with top line, big minutes and big paycheck, that limits where he's going to sign.Because he wants to scrap to make the playoffs every year?
JetsWell, for Nik he has to make a decision. If he really wants that marquee position with top line, big minutes and big paycheck, that limits where he's going to sign.
Finding a team that offers that and is a perennial contender will be a tall task. What team do you think will offer him all that?
So you think something magical is going to happen that is going to make Nik a first line player on the Jets, getting top minutes and getting paid more than Scheifele or Hellebuyck?Jets
I think he re-signs with the Jets.So you think something magical is going to happen that is going to make Nik a first line player on the Jets, getting top minutes and getting paid more than Scheifele or Hellebuyck?
Cause I think that's what it's going to take.
I love Nik, but if he's your marquee player, you're not a perennial cup contenderWell, for Nik he has to make a decision. If he really wants that marquee position with top line, big minutes and big paycheck, that limits where he's going to sign.

their first contract were pretty close. i am expecting similar this time around. Scheifele at 8.5m currently, Ehlers 7.5-8M and then Vilardi below that.8 years ago-ish Ehlers signed for $6.00Mx8 a year after Scheif signed $6.25Mx8...
Here's the problem: it's almost like a venn diagram. Top line minutes/ responsibilities, top tier salary, contending team.I love Nik, but if he's your marquee player, you're not a perennial cup contender
Maybe Carolina?
Ehlers would be worth 10+ to carolina...Well, for Nik he has to make a decision. If he really wants that marquee position with top line, big minutes and big paycheck, that limits where he's going to sign.

I don't think it will be too big a problem to find most, if not all of the above. He really is a top-tier player in the NHL at this point. He is not a super-star, but if you look at P/60, he hangs out with the superstars. Among LW, there are only 6 teams in the NHL boasting wingers with more point production this season. He is still under 30 years old. Here's the problem: it's almost like a venn diagram. Top line minutes/ responsibilities, top tier salary, contending team.
If Nik is trying to hit all three of those he's not doing it with the Jets, and he's going to be hard pressed to find another team that will offer that.
That's why I think his most logical choice would be an up and coming team.
I think he could be paid more than them, but, there is no way he is on top line. Connor way to be 5 in points and goals you are getting demoted because someone else has a higher /60 rate?So you think something magical is going to happen that is going to make Nik a first line player on the Jets, getting top minutes and getting paid more than Scheifele or Hellebuyck?

It will be really interesting to see how it shakes outI don't think it will be too big a problem to find most, if not all of the above. He really is a top-tier player in the NHL at this point. Nik doesn't look like he is doing anything but enjoying his increased opportunities to shine this season. If I am his agent, I am not sweating this coming off-season, I am salivating.
this season connor has been better than ehlers at 5v5 with his increased 2way engagement. first year he'll be in the +10's after years of straddling even and negative. CSV has been pretty good for the most part after a poor 23-24.I think he could be paid more than them, but, there is no way he is on top line.
