Sports psychologist paying off big time. He was great at every level but always seemed to fall apart when he was given a chance to really prove himself. Hopefully he keeps it up!

Agreed. When he was on the Moose his first few years he was prone to prolonged dips in play. He's really evened out his play the last number of years and I think the sports psychologist really helped him there.

Would be great if we could get a good back up for a team friendly deal.

Well, we were there tonight given' 'er all that, in possibly the best seats I've ever had for a Jets game, and while I'm too wiped atm to offer a comprehensible take on tonight's, erm, contest, I have a few quick thoughts:

- Mason Appleton was a great, not just a good pickup. From 2 rows back at centre ice I was able to see him make so many smart, quick plays to set up line-mates but also get plays in motion and make plays safe. He is better than I remember and even if he never puts up a ton of points I'd say he can have more than merely s Copp-lite impact -- more like a MP85-ish impact on play driving, even if he lacks the 4th-line J's hands

- I have never seen Scheifele play like this, and not in a good way. More later

- Laine is still fun to watch, but he's also the same player we traded. PLD was the layer we needed, especially as 55 exits the world of committed hockey

- Comrie can't stop what he can't see, unlike some bigger 'tenders, but he stops most of what he can see

- KFC, PLD and Ehlers looked dangerous all night, and Sanford looked like he might be a great complementary players for Lowry and Apples

- Love Stats the player, still looks like the smartest guy on the ice a lot of the time, but he doesn't quite have the hands he once did

- Wheeler is no longer an all-situations player. That's fine -- no shame in it. Stop playing him like one

- Stanley's mistakes are getting more numerous and more consequential -- he panicked under the pressure he made for himself there, and gifted the Jackets a goal against the run of play. Lowry needs to walk the walk, and sit him for a game or two, not as punishment, but as a break to reboot

- JMo is not going to win the Lady Byng

We laughed, we swore, we raised some funds, we actually won a game. 'Night all

I wore my Laine jersey at the game as it was nice to see him back.

But that call on Morrissey was such a joke, the holding call where that player dived and threw off his gloves. The ref was a complete idiot for not seeing that. That empty netter should've counted and the penalty excused, but shouldn't be complaining because good game, got to see Laine, and we seal it off with a win.

Back to back brutal games by Stanley. If he's in the lineup on Sunday then this organization is a loser. If you don't like Heinola fine bring up Marcus Phillips for all I care but you can't let that type of defending be awarded with a guaranteed role on the top-6 if you are a serious NHL club.

Also please play Comrie more. I openly doubted the kid at the beginning of the season but he has quieted all his critics.

Bleh, I had 60k vcash on a regulation win. Stupid refs and their incompetence! At least we spoiled their night in overtime.

By the way, I was at the game so I didn't see if it was posted. Did you guys hear the Reading Rainbow theme song play tonight? I wasn't expecting that!

Man, that call by the ref at the end of the third period was pretty piss poor, what is he blind or something...

Just watching that negated empty net goal/penalty sequence again. I mean, of course it was BS call.... But, even if you agree that Morrissey's soft slash was a penalty, it is quite clear that the slash occurred after Wheeler released the puck. (Wheels released the puck with 22.4 s left. Morrissey "slash" occurred with 21.4 s left). So it should be a delayed call until Columbus touches the puck.

What's the rule on that? I would expect that goal should count, but maybe there's some NHL rule that says if a team commits an infraction while the puck is going into the net, the goal doesn't count?

Anyone know?
