Better to remember it's the refs who let games get out of control & force the players to police themselves.

Nearly all of the worst plays in hockey come as a result of poor officiating, putting players at risk and setting a bad example for minor hockey.

Sadly I have no faith the game will ever evolve & with the NHL now so heavily aligned with gambling, the well established rule of game management by officials will continue allowing a trailing to team to have refs look the other way, leading directly to situations like this.

Its not a coincidence it was a 2-1 game at the time the Reeves penalty was overlooked. Fully on the numbers with the closest official having this as his viewpoint.

Feet come off the ground, in the numbers, drives head into boards, instantly looks back to the ref, than goes to make a play at the puck.

Why else would a referee not call a penalty, other than an attempt to game manage this into overtime & work towards a Minnesota win so that Nashville's final games might have meaning. Minnesota at the time was also still battling for 2nd place in the central & home ice advantage.

Tin foil hat? Sorry but this occurs on a nightly basis with all games, not just the Jets.

I honestly feel bad for supporting the NHL. If I wasn't so invested in the Jets I'd say f*** the NHL, f*** the refs, f*** the rules committee that allows this to continue year after year, f*** the GM's that refuse to have a meaningful conversation about moving the game forward, f*** the owners for hiring cement heads to run the game. f*** hockey & it's culture.

Worst run professional sports league on the planet.

I’m hoping this is more precautionary than anything but who knows. He was back on the bench for the end of the game but never played.
I mean Perfetti played the entire game and rhen has missed the last two months. Hard to read anything into it other then he's still being evaluated.
I was hopeful seeing him on the bench as well.

However a telling moment is postgame during Bowness speech. Ehlers can be observed (upper left) in the background unable to raise his right arm to get his jersey off, leading to a trainer having to come to his aid.

Yikes. Well that is a clear shoulder injury then. Could be gone for a while.

Adrenaline can do wonders to mask pain.
I don't think even if he was hopped up on adrenaline he would use the arm that was injured to hop over the boards like that, didn't he also have both arms raised over his head on the way to the locker room, he also was smiling and clapping when he was taking off his jersey, for all we know his jersey got stuck on some of his equipment and he asked the trainer to pull it off, I don't think anything is clear from this video and we can't diagnose what type of injury he has from a 30 second video

Hey I'm hopping for the best. I just believe if it wasn't a big deal the coach would have said so. The fact he's still getting looked at is concerning.

I am thinking more minor concussion than a shoulder injury. I have had it happen a couple times and I for sure could not immediately do simple tasks. After the hit he was holding his head and appeared confused. If it was shoulder you would not likely see a person raise it over there head, so I am thinking more that he was concussed.

Looked like a whiplash type injury to me. Subtle difference between that and concussion(TBI), but probably less damaging to the brain. So, he could probably play IF he feels improved symptomatically and his coach needs him....

The team already confirmed that it isn't a concussion and that it is some other upper body injury.

This is why the NHL should be cracking down on poor officiating. This could've all been likely nipped in the bud if the refs penalized Reaves for his boarding on DeMelo. They chose not to, and the game got chippy as a result.

By not penalizing an obvious board (which in and of itself is something the NHL says they're trying to get out of the game), the game broke down and a series of incidents happened:

- Hartman's predatory, retaliatory interference on Ehlers, which resulted in an injury (the NHL says they're trying to get this out of the game)
- Dillon mugging and fighting Hartman in front of the net (the NHL says they're trying to get this out of the game)
- Pionk's predatory, retaliatory crosscheck on Johansson, which resulted in an injury (the NHL says they're trying to get this out of the game)
- An obvious staged fight between Reaves and Lowry (the NHL says they're trying to get this out of the game)

Further, the Jets aren't likely to forget this, especially if Ehlers misses time in the playoffs, and as a result next season's first game between the Wild and Jets will probably see some combination of staged fights, Jets players going after Hartman, Jets players going after Kaprizov, general chippiness in the game, etc.

The officials of this game should be disciplined. By not penalizing a textbook board by one of the league's only remaining goons, the resulting effect resulted in two injuries, a maximum fine, a suspension, and a staged fight. There really was no reason to turn the other way on the Reaves board on DeMelo and by doing so (for "game management" or whatever), the referees invited the circus to visit for the rest of the game.

He used his left arm to hop the boards. I thought it was his right that was injured.
