Round 1 every series but the Oilers vs Kings and Panthers vs Lightning had at least one scheduled 2 day break somewhere in their series.

Round 2 every series so far except the Oilers vs Golden Knights gets a 2 day break somewhere in the series. (TBD with Jets/Blues vs Dallas).

Glad the team is getting a bit of breathing room to recover after the first round ended. They're the only team that has to play every second night in both rounds. In the grand scheme of things it might not matter. But in a 2 month war, every little thing can add up.

I don't understand why we can't switch Kulak and Nurse for pairings.

Nurse-Bouchard has been a disaster defensively and Kulak is the closest thing we have to Ekholm stylistically.

It really has vibes from last year when Knob stuck with Nurse/Ceci for entirely too long. I don't think its as bad as that though, as Bouch at least brings a lot of offence to the pairing.

It wasn't meant to be. Rantanen went god mode and single-handedly beat the Avs with 3 goals and an assist. There is a universe where he is an Oiler right now. That would have been amazing.

I really wonder what the contract he supposedly agreed to looked like, and what the package was that we were offering. Maybe that will come out one day, ala the Subban ask from Montreal way long ago.

Yeah a few times. Good bar near the rink right beside New York casino off Park Ave called BeerHaus but warning get there very early. Good food. It will be taken over by Oiler fans so itsss great time. Easy 2 minute walk to the rink from there. I always stay at New York casino when I go as it’s so close to the rink.

A lot of people around here were deep throating Colorado management because of all the moves they made, while trashing Edmonton management. But here we are, Colorado out in the first round, losing to a team missing their #1 dman and best scorer (who Edmonton beat last year with both) and the Oilers are moving on.

And Blackwood rocking that .892 and a .833 in game 7 lol.

Col was sinking and could have missed the playoffs. Their management brought in a goalie who played elite and took them to the playoffs. Saved their season.

Yeah, our sub 900 goalies were nice to keep, while losing any chance of the division on top. Our goalies were not even in Blackwoods league.

One is a pure trash (Skinner) and the other is less trash (Pickard), but looks good compared to the sloth sieve.

No, my point is that any team can beat each other in the west because every team is solid. In the east, half the team’s that made it had no chance. And no, the leafs are good but not elite. They can be elite if their top players actually showed up more consistently. That’s the only way they will be able to go on a deep run.

I just had a dreadful flashback while tuning into the Jets/Blues game. I really don't watch much on CBC since the canned Cherry but as I'm watching the play by play guy was just awful. I'm recognizing John Garret doing the color but the other guy...who is he? The only thing at the time I could compare it to was the voice of a muppet. I'm just thinking who the hell is this guy, CBC is scraping the bottom of the barrel. They then come back from commercials and sure enough it's the old Oilers guys they kicked to the curb. Just bloody awful. I stopped watching the Oilers feed that year and was watching out of town broadcast because of it and really purged the memory banks until now....HAHAHA...

As for the Vegas series.... The first thing that concerns me is the liberties the Vegas D has taken with our skilled guys in the past. Kane, Frederick and Perry have to really lean on these guys and make it clear this isn't the way things are going down this time. Our big dogs are healthy to this point and we need to keep it that way.

I hope so, but I can see the oilers pointing to Stuart’s in-zone save % of prior years and put him in because they don’t feel Vegas is a rush team (Skinner is the worst goalie in the NHL against the rush)
