Pre-Game Talk: Edmonton vs Vegas

Overall 5v5 in the Minny series he had 44.44% GF, and 43.92% xGF (lowest of Vegas D) with 65.15% offensive zone starts. Still got decent results out against Kaprizov 5v5, 55.99% xGF, his most common forward matchup. Got beat more in terms of chances by depth guys. That time vs depth he probably has weaker forwards out helping him. Our depth guys will need to play a big part again for us in this series. The top guys on both teams are gonna be in a hard battle.

All that said, I'm sure he is still elite at 2-hand overhead lumberjack chops. That's talent that you are just born with and keep most of your life.
He will targeted physically no doubt.

Any word when the series starts, sorry to lazy to read
The 2nd round gets kicked off on Monday by Florida and the Leafs. Carolina and WAS play on Tuesday. No schedule for other teams yet. But I guess they are waiting for the WPG-STL series to wrap up tomorrow. The teams in the Winnipeg pool will have to start on the same day as the Oilers and Vegas. So probably Tuesday or Wednesday.

we deserved to win that series in 2023 IMO, but Skinner and lack of clutch scoring let us down
let's change the narrative this year
That's what I've been saying for two years. The Oilers controlled a lot of the play in that series but there were two sequences in Game 5 with those PPs they gifted to Vegas that led to two P goals when the Oilers were controlling the first half of the game and that early Vegas goal barrage when Skinner couldn't make a save that sunk them. I really thought that Oilers team was destined to win the Cup.

Ah well, I think this is a toss up series. The Oilers game is in a pretty good spot now but was a little too loose in Game 6 for my liking, need to tighten that up against Vegas. I'm pretty confident, I think the Oilers match up well with Vegas.
Colorado is the one team I think is a bad matchup for the Oilers. They're too fast, are one of the few teams that have the high end talent to match the Oilers but with a better defense and goaltending. Hoping like hell that Dallas finishes them off tonight.

Every single one of our lines was above 50% goals and 50% expected goals in the Kings series. I don’t think that has happened ever in the Mcdrai era. Particularly, Bruce Curlock on OilersNation noted that since being put together, the Frederic-Henrique-Brown line dominated the Kuzmenko-Kopitar-Kempe line both in chances and goals. A real 3rd line, and the emergence of a healthy Kane and Klingberg improves this team’s chances of making it back to the final dramatically. Oilers are legit.

The Kane - RNH - Hyman line is also the best line analytically in the league right now.

Last year Vegas and Colorado were stronger than Dallas in my view. Certainly more inconvenient for the Oilers. but they got eliminated by other teams.
In your view lol. Dallas was better than Colorado easily. Seeing oilers fan downplay the oilers is sad. Winning in the playoffs is hard period. This is ignorant fairy tales

Avs are winning. The pieces are all falling into place. Our destiny will be fulfilled. Justice will be restored. McJesus will ascend.
It wasn't meant to be. Rantanen went god mode and single-handedly beat the Avs with 3 goals and an assist. There is a universe where he is an Oiler right now. That would have been amazing.
