Tyler YaremCuck is such a pansy ass. He's going on about how you can't change McDavids line in 4 nations at all, and gives no reasoning. Like what? It's not like they have a long history of producing together. There is plenty of guys that Marner and McDavid could both look better playing with. They had their chance, we don't have 10+ matches for them to find their game. It's just arrogance assuming Cooper could not possibly have made an incorrect decision. Like atleast make an argument for WHY they need to be together.

He also said he had no problem with Nate's play in OT, when even Mackinnon himself said he can't believe he looked off Connor.

He needs to realize that there can be some truth in an abrasive comment. Sure, the guy saying "Mack is a puckhogging moron" is an idiot, but some of that sentiment is correct in that specific instance. Same thing with the Skinner stuff, like there is definitely comments that go overboard but the underlying thought, that Skinner might not be good enough to win us a cup, does have some bones to it.

It's like he feels any comment that is mean is automatically incorrect.

OilersNation used to be great, but they are devolving into click bait garbage and alienating the hardcore fans that built them in the first place.

A new weekly Oilers podcast/show starting this Wednesday at noon. Every Wednesday at noon, Struddy's World from the Got Yer Back Podcast Network. Jason Strudwick and Chris Szabunia - with alternating guests every second week - 1 week is Noodles (Jamie McClennan) and then the next week is Dreger. Sounds like a great combination. I can't wait.

I actually think it sounds a little scattered. Adding Leafs content (why?), Szabunia's a good producer but not sure about as host and he mentions veering off on interest tangents like rap. Got Yer Back works because Strudwick and Brown are ex-players with credible insight, smart and funny, and Rishaug is a good host which his day job covering NHL for a major network. And through the lens of an Oilers centric coverage that hits a hungry market.

Will give it a chance though for sure.

Beyond Rishaug's original Got Yer Back podcast, his network will now include Ray & Dregs (which he added last off-season) and Strudwick's new one - all under the GYB umbrella. Being a podcast, it can be consumed anytime after it airs live on Wednesdays at noon. It will be interesting to see how the live version does up against The Lowdown with Lowetide on Sports 1440 and The Oilstream with Dustin Nielson & Tom Gazzola on EST internet streaming radio. Struddy is definitely popular for a reason.

What do you mean GYB added Ray and Dregs? It was a purchase?

They took over the production of Ray & Dregs which explains why Rishaug can be heard fairly regularly on that podcast these days. I really have no idea how much money (if any) changed hands.

to me, both Dreger and Noodles would have lots of knowledge of Toronto, therefore, they would be good sources for that. Obviously, the Oilers will be the main topic. I know Zubby, he's a bright guy, outgoing, and why not give him a shot as a co-host? You know Struddy will dominate the conversation, Zubby will just have to play off of him. I have high hopes, it's just once a week, and it's more content, why not?

Darren Dreger??
yup, Darren Dreger will be a guest every second week on Struddy's new show.

My very last line was "will give it a chance though for sure."

As it was described, the show sounds broader than Oilers with a stated focus on the Maple Leafs and sounds like more divergence from core hockey talk (which I think can be a minor criticism when Got Yer Back goes long and off track imo). I think Zubie is a talented producer and not a criticism of him but if the show extends into things like his takes on rap music then the podcast is too broad. It's a fine line and the podcast spin-off with Lebrun didn't get traction.

Now if the new podcast was focused on all Canadian NHL teams with a look-in at each market, I'd find that more interesting than yet another content vehicle focusing on the Maple Leafs. Noodles and Dreger can still provide out of market perspective.

I'm sure the production will be good. Not sure about a prospective large Leaf content show with random non-hockey stuff. But again as I posted I'm willing to give it a chance based on the people involved.

i have high hopes. I kind of like when GYB goes off topic and off the rails from time to time. I also feel Rob Brown and Struddy both do a great job of breaking things down, and I've just always like Rishaug. It is my favourite Oilers podcast, to me, it's the perfect blend of hockey, oilers, and other stuff.

It's nice having so many options for Oilers stuff. people can pick and choose which ones are for them.

Totally agree, my favourite too. By far the best Oil content going and I've been a strong advocate of the show from its beginning (often linking or referencing before this thread was established). Strudwick and Brown are excellent. Smart, articulate, funny and credibility playing at NHL level. I don't mind some diversion in the show but feels it can meander a bit too much at times. Small critique again for a really excellent show that stands above by far other Oiler based programming.

We'll see how the new show does. Struddy has such great, still untapped potential. However if this is building a Leafs branded content piece which makes sense from a commercial/sponsorship and audience development pov then I'm not sure that it would be for me. And that's fine!

Appreciate the conversation!

Love GYB and especially love uncle Struddy. But if this new pod has a strong Leafs presence I will only listen exactly one time: the day after the Leafs are eliminated. Which should be a good distraction for a day in between the 1st and 2nd round :D

I honestly don’t always love Rishaug but he does a good job of taking the back seat and letting the guys who played do the talking when it’s appropriate. Opposite of Jason Gregor. Brown and Struddy are fantastic.

Rishaug had a second GYB branded pod a few years ago (before he took on Ray and Dregs) that he hosted with Pierre LeBrun. You can find the episodes online still. It was a more global look at the NHL v the Oiler centric GYB platform.

For some reason it died and no mention that I recall was ever made of it stopping. Like most pods a lack of listenership and failure to attract advertising probably killed it. Strudwick at least has a chance to make this a thing because he has much more media pizazz and is simply more engaging than milquetoast Rishaug and LeBrun.

If the content is more than just Leaf Talk it might have a chance, otherwise, there are so many TML oriented pods out there already, that it would be difficult to offer something that isn’t already there.

I wish them well.

Appreciate your post. I came across more critical than I had intended. Big big fan of Strudwick. The Lebrun version was definitely milquetoast. I had that in mind when I wrote my initial post.

Will give the new pod an honest chance and see where it lands!

More Struds is always a good thing - I enjoyed the first episode and will keep listening. Good for Zuby getting some room to vamp a bit too, since he definitely has a tendency to ramble but might feel constrained by the big boss at times.

Rishaug really nailed the formula with GYB and deserves a lot of credit, it's become a staple of the experience of being an Oilers fan for me. Us Oilers fans are blessed to have endless quality coverage of this team but if I could only choose one it would be GYB above the rest (sorry Stauff - you have way too many ads on every 20-minute podcast!)
