Are there any post game shows that actually have a good 1 hour of call ins? I notice most other teams do this. I don't even listen to any post game shows really anymore. I like hearing people call in.
Just the ched 880 post game

I remember Gregor used to have a good one back in 2005sh and the cup run back then. It was a late show on 1260. I just find it weird that a city like Edmonton doesn't have a proper call in show. I don't think TO has one either. MTL does, VAN does, OTT does, CGY does.

There are no good call in shows. Most average fans know absolutely nothing about hockey and the conversations are inane. Rob Brown and Reid Wilkins were ok at it, but most times I could hear their eyes rolling over the radio.

It's entertaining for me, even the crappy calls lol. I feel like half of the podcasts I listen to with our emdia are out to lunch as well.

Or these post game interviews, etc. 'Hey, that Pk you guys had. What was your goal on it? What were you thinking?"

lol

I swear NHL has the worst questions asked.

Driving home from Game 4, the first caller they kicked off with was a woman who complained about McDavid's body language as the feature point of her call. The next several after her didn't do much better.

I think the call in model is gone for the reasons you say. The only people that are willing to call are either 100 years old or crazy so any prayer of quality discussion gets immediately derailed. Reading texts, then using them to spark discussion by the hosts is far, far better in 2025.

This.

Iam surprised Ched hasn't figured this out for their format.

Also, Brown and Griffiths don't have a lot chemistry. Bryn will make a point, Brown will disagree with it and Bryn then flops like a fish to agree with it. Real bad radio.

I lost my appetite for local call-in shows several years ago, but I'm saddened to hear that CHED no longer delivers properly for those who still enjoy that antiquated format. When Bryn Griffiths was sports director at then-TEAM1260, he was open to constructive criticism and helpful suggestions. Still, there's not much he can do about lame-o callers. Perhaps you could try phoning in yourself to try to raise the quality of the discussion.

I did call in back then a couple times. I just find all sorts of opinions entertaining than just hearing fluff from players, coaches, and listening to a host 24/7. Even the "bad" callers are fine lol

I'm just shocked a hockey mad market like Edmonton doesn't have a proper dedicated call in time for post games. I listen to all of the other Canadian team ones on their podcasts.

Now that ched added video to certain oilers now clips its interesting to see Bob do 3 things at once while doing his interviews. It's all making more sense now

The ‘Got Yer Back’ podcast would be nothing without Strudwick. I’ll give them credit for being quick to the airwaves, and doing a decently long show (unlike CHED) but man Rishaug is so tedious to listen to.

I love the pod. The challenge with Rishaug is that he is a better analyst than host. When he was on Nielson's show he was great. I still like him but I can see why some are not fans.

I wonder if it's a 50/50 equity partnership. I have heard its Rishaug's gig and he gave Struddy his own show once a week to compensate?
