Lol this thread has 2K comments.
The others are around 100.
There's a burgeoning rivalry between these two teams that's been building for years, it started with Doughty and McDavid going at each other and it's just built up. The other three series from yesterday are kind of a nothingburger hatred wise but Dumba's doing his best to change that.

Also you guys need to chill. It's a long series, save some hatred for games 2-7.
Honestly this site is starting to give me f***ing Pacific division stockholm syndrome. I spend so much time seeing comments about how all the teams in the Pacfic are dogs or lame ducks from people that don't even watch the teams until the playoffs start, that it makes it hard to hate the other Pacific teams. Next thing you know I'm out here being like "but wait LA is quite good" and then trying to knock that off like

I just look at it this way.....they were on a 9 game heater. The odds were always to be against them hitting 10 (even if they didn't run out of regular season runway) and were even worse to hit 10 carrying it into the playoffs. Just the way things go.

Was I pissed last night, of course. They beat themselves more than LA beat them. They had that game in the bag they just had to be smarter for 8 minutes. But this one game itself does not predestine the entire series.

Anyone who is blaming the refs...cmon. Oilers blew it. They loss concentration and took the foot of the gas.

Valuable lesson right off the bat. Im still very confident but that was a great gameplan by kings to bide their time. Either way, it will be a good series, I think Oil in 6 is still a good bet.
I think this is a pretty fair assessment.

I've thought about this, conflicting logic. On one hand yes, but on the other playoffs are a new season.

Can’t blame the fans for being upset since they don’t have the benefit of seeing as many replays and add in crowd noise/booz. Two disallowed goals and penalties will rile up most NHL crowds in the playoffs.

TBH the calls were pretty straight forward, it wasn't like either one was a close call. A guy falls into the goalie on the first goal, and the other one the stick couldn't have been any higher. I think most of them were just upset because they were celebrating really hard after they thought they had won and then losing off a PP goal.

You go from like the highest high to an immediate low, like you said mix alcohol with that and it isn't surprising.

They need to play a smarter and more responsible game 2 if they wanna win the series. 2 goal lead with under 10 minutes to go, gotta be sharp.

I mean, the ground is almost unfrozen in Edmonton. Maybe the Oilers will get lucky and the links will be snow free by the time they get bounced.

Guys the refs hate San Jose. We’re not even in this series. If we weren’t tanking the league would be under investigation for the number of bad/missed calls. It’s almost as if the league is helping us taaa…er, retool….ok I’ll stop…

The Oilers could play a perfectly clean game and the refs will find a way to call penalties

Oh please, they let so much crap go, but if you clock a guy in the jaw, or swing your stick to prevent a scoring chance and you trip him, it going to get call. These are visual penalties. Even with the playoff rules, these things will get called. For both sides.
