Edmonton
Honestly idc what happens.

I'm just surprised that Edmonton is such a heavy favorite considering we were ahead of them in the standings 90% of the year.

I think it comes down to just how hot the Oilers have been down the stretch combined with last year and your injuries. The athletic had an interesting discussion on the same thing, 96% of those guys picked Edmonton, but basically all of them thought it should be astronomically closer than that.

Two of those games being the Oilers out-"king"ing the LA Kings helps that lopsidedness as well, just sitting back and waiting for chances and capitalizing while not really giving LA any chances themselves. If those games are more traditional offense vs defense style I think it's a different conversation, but I think the way those games played out makes it hard to take the Kings.

Particularly as we've noted before; McClellan isn't exactly known for making in game or in series tactical adjustments on the regular.

The X factor for me is goaltending. What Skinner brings and what presumably Korpi brings. Only adjustments I can really see from Kings are potential goaltending changes, and maybe trying to get physical. The Oilers though I think will come in with same game plan as last two meetings and see what is and isn't working and evolve a bit.

The King's are a good team though, so we'll see what happens.

Oilers goal scoring and lack of depth are still trash. My guess Kings goaltending steals the series.

Kings in 6

Oilers goal scoring? Oilers were top in the league for goals scored....

Trash depth?
Bjugstad 17 goals
Foegele 13 goals
Janmark 10 goals
Kostin 11 goals
McLeod 11 goals
Ryan 13 goals

Everyone in our bottom 6 has double digit goals. Trash! LOL

To add to that, only team that scored more when their top 6 was of the ice was Boston, and only team with a better goals differential when their top 6 was off the ice was also Boston.

(Said along the lines of Gimli with his axe in the Orc's nervous system)

Draisaitl lost his balance because Anderson was hanging on to his neck with his leg behind him and wouldn't let go!

Do you seriously think Draisaitl still falls in that manner without a 200lb man hanging off his neck?? come on man.

If Draisaitl was worried about getting tangled up with someone and falling down IN THE MIDDLE OF A SCRUM then maybe he should’ve just gone back to the bench.

You should actually start watching some hockey....

The Oilers boast 12 forwards who had double digit goals, joining Seattle as the first teams to have that kind of depth scoring since New Jersey in 1993-94.
They are still crap but they should be good enough to beat LA.

I can't think of a single Oiler I have any respect for. I'm not going to lie and pretend otherwise.
Yes we know, which is why it's such a mystery you end up in all the threads about us. The title tells you what the thread is about, no clue why you would click on something you know will cause you such heartburn.

Oilers draw an injured Kings team again, any chance of Fiala coming back? He was by far their best scorer this year, only Kings player above a PPG.

Huge blow to the Kings with both Fiala and Vilardi out. Second season in a row the Kings top winger is injured before the series.

Last time they took it to 7, so LA might still win it though.

Yeah.

The Oilers were completely healthy last year too, not like Nurse had a torn hip flexor or anything.

True, not like Doughty missed the whole series or anything. Obviously Nurse is a bigger loss... despite playing just as poorly this season while 'healthy'.

Was just pointing out that the Oilers also had their own problems to deal with.

Yeah, but the Kings injuries were more significant. Missing Doughty and their top winger is like Edmonton missing McDavid and Draisaitl.

The Oilers were obviously the healthier team last series, and at the start of this one. Fiala to LA is McDavid to Edmonton, their top scorer by far.

To be fair no one has the impact of McDavid. Even Leon impacts the game more than most players

Well I think one thing we can bond over is no one outside the Pacific seems to have a friggin clue what's gone on over the last month here

Here is what I think is going on.

LA is a really good team, I'd have them as favorites against just about anyone else but Edmonton has been playing at a whole other level for a quite a while now. This could be the best first round series, but with the Oilers playing as well as they are, it could also be a quick exit for the Kings even though they deserve a lot better.
