Again, you are free to pour through Hitchcocks rosters, I already have

He sucks offense out of his teams in favor of defensive systems

And again if you can't actually back that point up, you are simply ghost hunting. It takes talent to score 80+ points. Most teams do not have that talent, and Hitch typically hasn't had that talent.

As for Yakupov under Hitch, worst-case scenario I see is him doing what Stewart did under him. Yak will rely on his speed and shot, similar to how Stewart relied on his size and occasional speed burst. Scoring 15 goals in a sheltered role won't be too difficult.

It's a conditional third, no?

The Oilers are guaranteed a 3rd-round pick in 2017, considered a weak draft, regardless of how Yakupov performs for St. Louis.

If Yakupov scores 15 goals, the pick becomes a 2nd-rounder in 2018 which is looking like a strong crop with 2013-like depth.

Oilers fans should be cheering for Yak to get at least 15.......

Here is a name for you to dispute then

Joe Nieuwendyk

Had SIX 70+ point seasons before playing for Hitchcock (four of them being 80+ points, and two being 90+ points)

Never cracked 70 points again after playing for Hitchcock

Because teammates and turning 30+ doesn't impact production at all. Calgary had many others that were higher options that Nieuwendyk in the scoring department. In most years in Calgary he was around their 4th or 5th top scorer. Dallas didn't have that type of talent.

Yak didn't fit in with the direction we are going.

Versteeg, Caggiula, Pitlick, Pulju, and Slepyshev were all ahead of him for 3rd line spots. It's best for both parties to split.

Wish him nothing but the best, great kid.

Nieuwendyk was 29 when he went to Dallas, still in the prime of his career

But I get it, Hitchcock gets every concession

I'll be cheering for him, and not just because it would benefit the Oilers but because I love Yak the person and want to see him succeed. Best of luck to him in St. Louis.

Go look at the rest of the roster and you tell me. Remember the original comment said the Blues would expose Yak if he had a good year. If he had a bad year then I understand the logic but not if he has a good year.

I was under the impression they had more defense to protect.

They're in a great spot in terms of the expansion draft.

Let it go.

There's no question Hitch is still a defensive minded coach but he has hardly stifled players on the Blues. Fabbri, Tarasenko, & Schwartz have been given plenty of rope to play offensively, & at really young ages.

Peak production actually tends to happen in the midish 20's. So, even if I concede Joe, and drop the talent part of linemates between Calgary and Dallas, is that your big argument?

Has Hitch restricted Tarasenko, Schwartz, Fabbri, Stastny, Steen, Backes, Oshie, etc.?

Well he said Hitch never limited talent.

A hall of fame player with over 1100 points and career .89 ppg player suddenly couldnt crack 70 pts after the age of 28

He asked for a name and numbers, all I did was give them to him

Ya defensively it's a debate if Bouwmeester will be protected. Offensively Lehtera, Perron, & Berglund aren't exactly irreplaceable.

You too man. I don't like Hitchcock's offensive philosophies, but to act like he holds players back isn't true either. Especially the current version of Hitch does not hold production back.

I much prefer Q as a coach, and I've wanted Hitch gone for years, so don't mistake me for a homer.

Exactly.

One day during the 1999-00 season when Hull, Jere Lehtinen and Modano were playing on a line together. The coach at the time, Ken Hitchcock, kept saying at practice how scoring wasn't important. During the next drill, a two-on-one drill, Brett dumped the puck in the corner and skated out of the zone. Hitch went crazy and asked him what his problem was. Modano remembered Brett saying, "I thought you said scoring goals isn't important." Hitch proceeded to kick the entire line off the ice. Brett and Modano were getting showered and dressed and were ready to leave when the rest of the team came off the ice. Meanwhile, Jere was still sitting in his stall in full gear, skates laced, not knowing what to do because he had never been kicked out of practice before.

Your position is just flawed and here's how. When Hull went to Dallas it's well known that he was asked to play a more defensively sound role. The result was the Stanley Cup. You have to see that winning the Cup takes prescidince over an individual player racking up stats.

Brett's side of the story, not like he was a prime example of complete player or coach friendly. Hull from back then would get shredded if twitter existed.

You'd be dumb to say that Hitch's philosophies to do not emphasize the defensive side and transition play more than offense, but it's also not fair to say that he restricts offense.

I mean he hit 69 points in 73 games a few years later. Just saying.
