Thats a fine deal, sad to see Walman go and not Ferraro because hes actually good.
Such an atrocious move from Detroit, made no sense then and even less nowDetroit paid a 2nd
For an extra year the price really isn't all that bad. Hopefully means next year's deadline they can spend their assets on forward or in net. Would still like to see them add a goalie before the deadline tomorrow, and if not then another scoring winger.Pricy cost, Oilers needed to do it though.
It’s clear you stopped watching the sharks on December 21st.Thats a fine deal, sad to see Walman go and not Ferraro because hes actually good.
if we got a 2nd to take Walman and then traded him for a 1st I will laugh heartily. I actually really like the guy but boy what a neat bit of business if true.
...so Edmonton needs a 2nd Pairing RD (defensive-minded if possible) and get a 2nd Pairing LD (offensive-minded)...why??...![]()
Connor Murphy?Logically, it's because there aren't any available.
Connor Murphy?
Logically, it's because there aren't any available.
...so you spend the assets on something you DON'T need...that makes very little sense...
Not an upcoming UFA so it's not clear if Chicago wants to move him right now.
You mean like how SJ just moved a player who also is not an upcoming UFA?
I think moving Seth made it easier to hold onto him.Yes, but evidently they were fine moving Walman, we don't know that Chicago is actively trying to move Murphy. If Murphy was an upcoming UFA, we know they'd try and get something for him, but they don't have to do it right now.
Chicago can retain for Murphy soon, which means they could get a better return by waiting.
I think moving Seth made it easier to hold onto him.
This is just false. Detroit was never going to use Walman in a way that could have commanded this kind of return. SJ is the only team in the league so bereft of offensive talent on the blueline that they let Walman run PP1 and have free rein offensively. He's literally down a 2nd (traded) and a 1st (opportunity cost) but I'm sure the yZeRpLaN wIlL cOmE tO fRuItIoN aNy DaY nOw.
But presumably a savvy GM would see him, to some extent, for his potential. This is just false. Detroit was never going to use Walman in a way that could have commanded this kind of return.
