Hope they were able to send some salary the other way if they’re giving up a first

He had a crazy start to the season but has fallen off a cliff offensively lately

Also don’t love that we get another LHD, doesn’t really help the Nurse pairing unless Walman slides over to the right side

Stylistically I think him and Nurse could work well together but both want to be on the left side

Definitely not the type of dman I thought the Oil would target. Nice that he has another year on his deal though and it’s not just a pure rental

We then have a slight problem in adding 3.4 unless Kane has agreed to wait for the playoffs to come back

Welcome to deadline day. I am impressed that Grier got a 1st and a 2nd for Walman(he was a cap dump from the wings in the off season)
The Redwings royally screwed that one up. The value was built up on the Sharks, enough that he should easily be a 2nd pairing D on our team. A 1st seems like decent value on our end. He's not even a rental. It's a fair trade

Hopefully its only a first and a meh prospect

I’m ok with it if they are eating 50%. A top 4 dman at 1.7 for the next year and a half is easily worth a 1st

They have no retention slots

3rd pairing Dmen dont have 20 min or more TOI.

In his last 2 years with Detroit Walman had around 20 mins TOI
In San Jose he had just over 23 min TOI.
He has been getting better each season in the NHL...looks like a late bloomer to me.

At this point in time he appears to be a top 4 dman...at least on the left side.
I don’t give a toss where he’s playing in San Jose or where he played in Detroit. On this team he isn’t playing ahead of Ekholm or Nurse so 3rd pairing is the only place he’s going. That’s not an upgrade worth a 1st.
