It is equally as crazy as asking for Brown at 50% and dumping Kassian. I was trying to show what it would really cost to get what the OP wanted. We both know both are absurd and never going to happen. But you wont get the deal the OP wants without the package I said.

Uh, you'd never get Kassian, Bourgault and a 1st for Brown @50%. That is my point.

Anyway. I guess we are all agreed. Bad trade. It happens.

1st + Yamamoto for Brown.

1st + Kass + Lavoie for Brown.

No retention.

Lavoie + 2nd + for Nick Paul.

The Moon for Artem Zub.

I'd give up far more than probably most of HFOil for Brown and Paul.

Zub would be a great addition to the Oilers. 100%

Kassian has a top 5 worst contract in the league. Gonna need to attach at 1st with him to get rid of him. What was Holland thinking with that contract?

Hard pass on those deals for Brown.

Hell yes on that deal for Paul. Where do I sign.

And good luck on Artem Zub :)

Clearly too much for Paul then :DD

What would be fair for Brown then? I thought Yamo and a 1st was a pretty good start. And yeah, I don't think there's any Sens fans that would agree to any deal involving Zub without a massive overpay that wouldn't result in major arguing on the forum lol. Rightly so.

My biggest issue in that first Brown deal is Yamamoto. He would be so far out of favor under DJ Smith it wouldn't be funny.
Value wise not bad, but Yamamoto kills it for me.

A 2nd alone for Paul is probably fair at the deadline. Great 3rd liner who works his butt off every night.

Appreciate the insight. Curious as to why the coach wouldn't like Yamo? I'd definitely pick up Paul for a second though I'm sure some of our own think I'm crazy. Really like the player.

Sorry I'm not too familiar with Smith's coaching, what am I missing?

Yamamoto works his butt off every night, and he's a great defensive player and a valuable PKer. Coaches tend to like those guys.

Pretty much all the same reasons he doesn't like Brannstrom much. Small offensive minded player who is easy to knock off the puck. Maybe I am wrong about him, but based off what I've seen and heard thats my take.

If this is true why do pretty much all oiler fans want to send him on the first plane out of Edmonton?

Seems like most of us are split. I think we mostly agree he's a solid energy guy who plays a good game despite his size. But personally I think he's best suited on the third line and depending on how him and JP's contracts shake out it might come down to one or the other. I also think Brown would be a strong upgrade on a player I think plays a like minded game who is signed to a good number for next year too and shouldn't be too hard to accomodate.

Yamo is a good young player I don't mind keeping if we had someone to bump him down but we don't and I wouldn't mind upgrading him for a more proven talent. Oilers need to win now and I think a guy like Brown is worth moving him for. Some on our board would disagree with me though. I will admit his numbers aren't great especially considering how much he plays with Draisaitl, so it also comes down to whether or not you think he can find a bit of that game again. I think he can, honestly. I like the player, and I'd say he isn't just an offensive minded player cause he plays well at both ends, at least to my eye.

Just for the fun of it. I would guess Brown @50%+ Kassian would cost something like 1st+Broberg/Bourgault maybe?

You're dumping a big contract and getting back a top 6 forward for 2 years at 1.6Mil its going to hurt.
You think you’re getting 2 1sts for Connor Brown? He isn’t even putting up that much more offense than Kassian

Yams is an absolutely buzzsaw on the forecheck and fits the identity of our team pretty well. We’re starved for RW, especially if we’re moving Brown but I don’t think Yamamoto is the player I would want to target. I think it would also be in Edmonton’s best interest to bump him down to the third line and have the option of reuniting the DRY line.

I think it’s pretty much a consensus that Brown without retention with a year remaining after this one is worth a first round pick. Taking on Kassian most likely will cost Oilers a second round pick, but like I said earlier- Kassian might be one of those players that our pro scouts see as a net positive in terms of value.

1st round pick + 2nd round pick/Samurai/Lavoie + Kassian for Brown + 3rd (depending on what the middle selection from the Oilers is).

Someone correct me, but I feel like it’s been a long time since Oilers have had a Swiss Army knife player that can excel on any line in all situations. Not just thrown on any line by Tippett, but a player that doesn’t look out of place.

I think Nick Paul can be that for them. PK, PP#2, top six, bottom six, centre, winger. He admittedly isn’t having the year he was having last year, but would be really excited and think would be fair for value to be around 2x 2nd round picks for him.

nice try

Skinner? Hoffman? Price? OEL? Fowler?

Kassian has 12pts in 25 games. If you look around at many teams 3rd lines--most have guys on similar money as Kassian with about the same out put.

it is a bad contract--but it is 5th worst on the Oilers--not the league

On the Oilers--Kosk, Ceci and Keith are on worse contract

Because a lot of Oilers fans are extremely over-reactionary and can't comprehend anything beyond points/shots.
