Hi Bern,

Sorry, I don't quite follow you here.

Are the LA Kings in this scenario outbidding the Oilers for Shesterkin? Is Byfield the return? And that's after the Rangers trade with the Devils? There are a lot of moving parts here .

If they are acquiring Shesterkin, what do they do with Kuemper, who is signed for $5million + for three years?

I checked Yardbarker and I didn't spot the article where they said the Kings were looking into Shesterkin. I did see one speculating rebuilding teams like Chicago, Montreal and Philly could swoop in with a lucrative free agency offer this summer, but that read more like guesswork than anything.
It's documented they want Shesty hard
whoev else is there, they will flip -- reduces cost of this deal

As to lot of moving parts, can't be helped, it is what it is
bread may waive if local, and Jersey suf closeby
they have enuf ample RD they can let simon N go for high enuf get, which Panarin is
only ? is what is the specific deal to be agreed to

If that goes thru, you are LA
are ya gonna turn down extended Shesty KAM + Nemec for Byfield?
no

real world work
til later

Most NYR fans seem to think it is a pretty huge offer.

I think you've overshot the mark with your proposal. IMHO.

I think you might have overshot here JUUUUUUST a little bit.
So it’s overshooting it to ask for you guys to compensate us with an equal level player? Asking for our best player and one of the best in the league for some average future assets is insulting.

I think Shestyorkin for Draisaitl is a roughly equal value trade. Yeah, one is signed long term and the other isn’t. Not as if we won’t be able to get a deal done and need to trade Igor though, so I don’t see why we’d be pressed into a bad value deal. I also don’t want to trade our best player, so I really don’t even care. Make it worth it. Obviously that isn’t some average futures.

We’re not trading our best player unless an equal or better player is coming back. We’re trying to win this year.

I would maybe consider it for Draisaitl. McDavid, sure.

Picks? No chance.
How's that working out for us so far?

Imagine if Edmonton gave up that kinda future and did not win the cup only for Shesterkin to bolt for a team like Chicago in free agency.

Stan or Jeff Jackson would most certainly have to work out another deal before Shesterkin‘s contract expired.

My proposal is what wins cups. As long as we can get 3 or 4 years out of Igor, pull the trigger. These goofs in Oiler management will tinker around the edges during McDrais prime years

They aren't and asking for a Draisaitl isn't a rational request.

Moving Igor means that we are moving Trouba (a given), Kreider, asking Mika to waive and if that triggers Artemi wanting out as well, so be it.

That is between 37 and 40 million out, less the off set of what comes back in those deals.

For Igor, I'm calling Colorado. That is their Achilles heel

They would have to find a taker for Nurse (afford the cost to move him) and still have a boatload of assets to give for an extended Shesterkin. Even at the OP that's 2 1st + 2 2nd + probably another 2 1st to unload Nurse cap to be able to afford a 11m+ on a goalie. Then even after all this we need least 1 top 4 D. I'd love to add a goalie of Shesterkin's calibre especially long term. Cap and asset wise I don't think we could pull if off.

If we're going to look to move 2 1st+ for a goalie we should target Saros. 7.7m cap hit will be much easier to manage then a Shesterkin extension.

The offer is more than fair and probably too good. The ones who say no only say no because they believe that somehow, someway, NYR are going to sign Igor and he's going to be a monster for them. The last thing they want to see is a player go somewhere else and win them a cup. I'll never understand why fans are so bitter like that. He's not winning it here. Go get your cup elsewhere. He hasn't been our best player this year and when he is our best player, we're still being bounced in the playoffs.

I'd do this offer and I'd reasonably include something.

Oilers would be completely f***ed if Shesty shits the bed in the playoffs. Cause he isn't signing here, nor could we afford his RIDICULOUS ask.

That said, just to be able to tell McDavid we did EVERYTHING we could to get him a Cup. I'd consider it. We owe it to Captain.

Your fan quite literally did ask for that, so you should pay attention to the discourse before opinion.

If you think Draisaitl is on some pedestal he’s not, I guess there’s nothing to discuss here. I wouldn’t even make that trade. I was being agreeable to say maybe there’s a discussion to be had. Good luck with Stuart Skinner and we’ll see how that goes.

He hasn't been our best player this year and when he is our best player, we're still being bounced in the playoffs.
I beg to differ. He actually has been our best player this year.

This should be a fun one.

The Oilers need an upgrade in goal. The Rangers are looking to make changes to their line up and based on salary demands it seems like Shesterkin could be moved before the trade deadline. So do the Oilers really go for the Cup this year and make a massive deal for a pure rental?

:edmonton

Igor Shesterkin 28, (G) $5.66 Million pending UFA. No retention. No extension.

:rangers

Oilers 1st round pick either 2025/26 whichever isn't moved to Philly
Oilers 1st round pick 2027
Oilers 2nd round pick 2025
Oilers 2nd round pick 2026

Stu Skinner 26 (G) $2.6 Million expires end of next season
Jeff Skinner 32 C/W $3.0 Million pending UFA

This makes the trade more or less cap neutral.

Historically Goaltenders don't go for this kind of haul, *especially* rentals. However Shesterkin is arguably the best in the league and his stellar play has covered some serious defensive shortcomings on the Rangers roster. Sounds exactly like what the Oilers need.

This could win them the Cup.

In the off season Shesterkin wants to sign for more than the eye-watering eight year, $88 Million dollar contract offered by New York. The Oilers have no chance to match that. Who knows, maybe becoming a Stanley Cup winner is the feather in his cap he needs to get the number he wants. Maybe that number comes from the Rangers who sign him as a free agent in the summer AND get the draft capital above.

Stu Skinner is added because the Oilers have to make some room under the cap and someone has to share duties with Quick. Jeff Skinner is also added for the same cap reason and his contract expires at the end of the year. Not a painful add for the Rangers to take on.
I'd do something close to this. I think I'd prefer Arvidsson over J.Skinner simply because 1) NMC, 2) actually #2 is also NMC. I don't want that on the books. Even for part of a season. We already have way too many for my taste. Something like a conditional 2028 2nd that turns into a 1st if Shesty resigns. Essentially needs some conditionals. And then finally, the Rangers add Chris Drury to the deal. Mandatory dealbreaker.

If the Rangers trade Igor, they might as well just blow it up because how does that team compete without him? They could barely touch the puck vs the Hurricanes and they still won.

Two 1st picks and two 2nd picks for a winning goalkeeper like Shesterkin would be playoff trophy transfers for both teams or what do you say people?

Shesterkin need a environment booty moreover.

Moreover Shesterkin want to change club he has proven higher wage is the reason.

I think Shesterkin suit in the Oilers.

Old goalie Quick is the Rangers first goalie option.

2nd STL 2025
Savoie or O'reilly or Scheafer

Shesterkin turned down eight years @ $11 Million AAV from the Rangers. He isn't signing in Edmonton for less.

Also Schaefer was traded already.
