Ceci needs to go. Kulak always plays well in the playoffs and he can actually move the puck and isn't terrible on puck retrievals like Ceci is. Ceci out should give them enough money to find a replacement.
Sounds Great. Who?

If Cecis gone, he would probably already be traded, cause I think JJ has a thought and a plan behind all this.
Its Kane that either LTIR or gets traded. He is obviously Hurt, so it has to be LTIR. That is gutsy though.

Its basicly
OUT Kane, VD, Campbell 10,2 M
IN Arvidssson, Skinner 6 M
A netto of...pk, Brown to at 1M. Is that deadcap?

They learned, you dont throw a bunch of dollars and term like a desperate anymore. No more Lucic or Campbell situations.

I think Ceci moving depends on Kane's status which appears to be TBD at this point as he continues to meet with specialists. If he's LTIR then they can keep Ceci, but he likely moves to the 3rd pairing as JJ even said today they want to find Broberg more minutes. If Kane's healthy for start of the season then Ceci is the logical man out as he brings them below the cap.

A lot depends on Kane's status, but I think if he's healthy you keep him and move Ceci out unless you have a deal for a top 4D with term right now then maybe you look at moving both.

Adam Larsson (pending UFA) would be an interesting TDL option if he's moved on from his father's death here and wants to come back for a cup run. A lot of Swedes on the team this time around, but would depend where Seattle is in the playoff race.

I mean, it's a cheap-ish deal, so you can't really argue with the value for a guy who's going to get 25 goals like clockwork.

But if the plan is to run him next to Draisaitl...it might not go well. Skinner is one of the worst defensive forwards in the league, and Drai can't drive two-way results on his own. I legitimately expect a Skinner-Draisaitl line to get outscored at 5v5.

Have a feeling Skinner ends up with Connor and Hyman while Nuge plays with Drai and Arvidsson.

Gives better balance and just seems like a better fit for both lines.

We’ll see though, we have a whole season to tinker and try different things out

Skinner's finishing ability with McDavid could be something else. Could easily see McDavid centring two 40 goal scorers next year.

I do wonder people putting Skinner in the top 6 realize he's a puckhog would probably be better off far away from Drai or McDavid.
Hyman is a puck hog as well. When he gets the puck in the Ozone he often tries to wind around and take a a bad shot rather than dish the puck.

McDavid can play with anyone.

Also, McDavid, Nuge, and Draisaitl will overpass often so its nice to have some selfish, shooter types around to balance it out.

Skinner is not a puckhog.
If you play him on McDavid wing, he will score 50 goals.
Actually could see a Skinner-McDavid-Hyman line having three 40 goal scorers. Wonder when the last time that's happened. I'll be happy with 25 or more, but with his finishing ability I think 25 feels a bit low. Depends if they decide to run their 2nd PP unit more now that they have quite a few good options there.

Oilers don't need more firepower. Skinner would be incredible on this team, don't expect any defence while playing.

I dunno about that. If you are talking (healthy) playoff Drai, you are flat out wrong.

If you are talking regular season, playing with scrubs Draisaitl, then your position has merit... Drai tends to overcommit to possession in the O-zone and then when he's gassed from doing all the work, coasts to the bench while a negative is being put up...

... but what you are forgetting is that shifts usually end when a goal is scored. Having Skinner and Arvidsson on his wings is a HUGE improvement on McLeod and Foegele... neither of whom are particularly strong in their own zone.

Skinner is weak in his own zone, but I think he's going to work wonders with Drai and Arvidsson... and Arvidsson is no slouch at 5v5. Drai just has to stay interested and engaged, and who wouldn't be alongside his two new line mates?

Glad Skinner is going to continue his figure skating / ice dancing career out west Edmonton Mall.

The new season of Emily in Paris is going to start this fall / it’s Jeff favorite show!

You go girl! 🧒

I don't believe 3 40 goal scorers on the same line has ever happened in the NHL. The only post 1996 teams to do it were 2019 Lightning.

Based on what?

Skinner is +26 over the last 4 seasons 5v5, and he's never been on a playoff team.

Draisaitl hasn't been outscored 5v5 in a season since 17/18.
