We lost the second period and it cost us the game ultimately. Lauzon of course did not help, but it boils down to that flat effort in the 2nd. Oh well. They had to take us to almost 4 periods to beat us. It’ll be a good series but I still feel good about our chances.

Normally I'm not one to rush to Tuukka's defense, as I've never liked his demeanor, but seems off-base to me for Cassidy to bring him up after last night. The "one more save than us" comment is a little snarky, IMO. I thought he made a handful of excellent saves in the first 10 Islanders shots that could have beaten lesser goalies, and I can hardly blame him for the deflection or the breakaway.

Maybe the goal is to fire him up a bit (it worked with Julien), but lack of secondary scoring and some bad team defense in their zone seemed like bigger problems to fix, IMO. Gonna need more offense from guys like Krejci, Hall, Ritchie, JDB, etc.

I thought the big issue last night was too many moments where they lacked focus/concentration. Some players were bigger culprits than others.

Bruins are the more talented team, but they really need Smith and Miller back. The 1st line can't no-show for 2 periods like they did last night. Despite how good the Islanders are at home, this team is capable of winning at least 1 game there. Just need 60+ minute efforts.

I wonder a bit too if the Islanders found something last night. They owned us in the 2nd and OT with a more aggressive forecheck. The Bruins will need an answer for that going forward I think...a few too many shifts hemmed in due to forechecking pressure and failed clears.

everyone see how Bergeron immediately skated to Lauzon and starting berating him in front of 17,000 fans in French at the TD last night?:sarcasm:

Leadership unlike our previous opponents captain and here`s Marchand post game too

“S*** happens,” Brad Marchand said after the Game 2 loss.
“It's a fluke play. He tries to make a play, it goes off a skate. That stuff happens in hockey, so we’re not concerned about it. Again, we just have to worry about the next game, it’s all about how we bounce back as a group.
“Nobody’s perfect in this game," Marchand continued. "We all make mistakes every single night, we probably make a mistake every shift. That's how it goes. Sometimes they end up in your net, sometimes they don't."

Haven't we learned by now that inserting Kuhlman to get some offense is just silly. . . I mean how many years to we need to try to fit that square peg into a round hole before we learn?

Hey, the guy is scoring at a point per game pace so far. With limited ice time!

Seriously, he's only in there because he's the best choice of a sorry lot to replace Smith.

We lost one game, not the end of the world.
There were some terrible calls like the cross check by Zajac to McAvoy, that is a penalty all day long.
Hall had a great chance in OT to end it and could not bury it.

Lauzon's pass was a bad decision. He needs to forget it and move on.
I looked at the replay and all he had to do was ring the puck along the boards, he had a guy open behind the net.
The Islander player that was covering our right dee on the play was also pretty close to them, so even if the pass was successful the right dee had few options when he received the pass.
Cross ice passes are risky, Galchenyuk did the same thing in OT and it cost the Leafs that game.

Players I thought struggled last night in gm2

Reilly
Carlo
Lauzon
Clifton
Debrusk

Hopefully that will change quick.
clifton was great last night.
he should be paired with tinordi next game.
lauzon is making him look bad at times.

Quit excusemongering. Sick of this stuff as the Islanders
are missing Lee.

Taylor Hall needs to become a real factor next two
games as he should be. Constantly fumbling
pucks last night.
The whole second line needs to start contributing especially 5-5 ,Krejci assists have almost all been on Power play,Hall has a couple power play goals and an empty netter to make it 5-2 and Smith has one goal ,sure it was a big goal ,but need more from these guys 5-5 because face it were not getting many more power plays .

I think that move should be made as well. Nothing against Lauzon but I at least would think about it. Of course if Miller can go the problem is solved the easy way.

I had no problem with Tuukka last night. Maybe the Palmieri goal he should have been able to make a play on. 2/4 goals on Lauzon tho. Kid needs to sit.

As the great maximus in Roman times once said against the opposing armies . Unleash hell. I'm watching gladiator today to get me in the mood for Thursday. All bears watch that movie so you have positive vibe for game day.

Bruins have had problems with aggressive forecheck for awhile, this was a style they had even under Julian ,box teams out and not give up to many good scoring chances, but I think there Defence was better at blocking shots unlike this D that consistently deflects pucks into their own net.

I simply don’t see what people are talking about regarding Debrusk last night. I thought he looked pretty good
I agree. I thought he had some jump and juice and was playing hard. Maybe he just looked good though because we are use to him doing nothing. I dunno

frustrating tilt which is just what the Isles want to do, frustrate opponents. Ebbs and flows of a playoff game, go to Long Island, grab one there.
It going to be a lot harder than we think, with the crowd and the Isles home record 21-4-3. If Isles happen to go up 3-1 then I think the writing is on the wall.

It seemed like the long change coupled with the Islanders forecheck was really throwing them for a loop at times. They really were hemmed in a times
