Series Talk: ECSFs Discussion - All The Smoke Edition - Panthers Trailing 0-2

I think it's over because I don't think Toronto is bad enough to lose 4 of 5 but Florida played extremely well game 2. Yeah Verhaeghe, Kuli, Boqvist etc but the bottom line is if your goalie is giving up 2 bad goals a game you won't win very often. If they play how they did game 2 and Bob just makes a save they could make it interesting. Bob is extremely fickle though. Can be top 3 in the world some nights and Jonas Johansson others. I don't think I'd make a switch in net, Zito is working on an extension for him so I doubt they go away from him lol.

Release Pulju, is he eligible? Also goalie change should wake up the team.

Lose next round or whatever but please no Toronto in four

Exactly. Well said. Panthers like most upper echelon teams, always bounce back after being down. There is no way there are going out in 4. I will predict they take both games at Amerant and tie the series. They didn't look that bad last night as some pundits are claiming.

In the past two games Bob has let in soft goals that are uncharacteristic for him and the D have given up way too many odd man rushes. If one of those isn’t true we likely are tied 1-1. If both weren’t true I think we would be up 2-0.

First thing we need to do is eliminate those odd man rushes. Edmonton did the same thing to us in games 4-6 last year. Figure that out and it solves most of the problems.

Something unsaid is that Toronto has a former forward, defenseman, and goalie to pull information from on how we play and may adapt
Plus with Berube being a good coach this will be tough.


On a side note, we really couldnt have kept Lorentz? Or did we think J Bo was better? Offensively J Bo had a nice flash but since then meh and not much else i can think of thats better than Lorentz

Maybe Luongo could be an emergency backup for a game. He’d probably let in 2 softies, but that’s better than 4 softies.
 
Watching the other playoff games you can see teams/players giving their all. Diving for pucks, blocking shots, working their ass off on every shift.

Need more of that from these guys if they v want to win the next the game(s). No taking a shift off/going easy. When the Dman pinches, forwards get back and cover - same thing you've done since PoMo took over. Need one of our superstars, Barkov/Reinhart/Bennett, to take over a game like Rantanen has done for Dallas. We know they have the ability, but do they have the desire?

Guess we'll find out tomorrow night.
